Psychologist? I know these guys have them, but thought it was to help them with their game, not decide whether to play

Framber has worked closely with a sports psychologist for quite a while. It's completely changed his ability to deal with pressure and made him the pitcher he is today.

Oh I completely agree with that. And he definitely needed one as he was prone to melting down. You can still see glimmers of it at times…that crazy game in Oakland last season comes to mind. I’m just saying it seemed odd that he would ask the psychologist whether he should play in the WBC.

I’m more concerned about the shoulder comment. Hopefully it was just a general statement that he needs more recovery time from the long season.

The Houston Astros beat Kyle Tucker in arbitration on Thursday, and the All-Star outfielder will make $5 million rather than his $7.5 million request.

In unrelated money matters...

The Big 12 and Texas/OU have come to an agreement which includes Texas/OU paying a combined $100 million to the conference in exchange for the conference allowing the two teams to join the SEC a year early.

That is a huge deal. And a giant sum of money for two universities to absorb.

I have a friend here in Austin that is pretty tight with the UT brass.

Here's how the deal went down:

OU/UT: We want out after '23 season.

Big 12: No.

OU/UT: Please?

Big 12: No.

OU/UT: We pay you money?

Big 12: No. .... Well, maybe. How much money?

UT: We pay you 100 million dollars!

OU: Yeah 100 million... wait, da frick you talking about longhorn?

Big 12: OK! Deal. You pay, you go.

OU: wait... wait. no. WTF are you talking about longhorn!!!?

UT whispering to OU: Don't blow this cowpoke. We'll pay the money.
OU: where'd you get $100million to burn?!
UT: Well, we made a bet that paid off pretty big.

OU: You made... a bet?
UT: Yeah, yeah, before the World Series we put down five bucks and it paid off, made a cool $100 million.

OU: what kind of bet pays off that much?

UT: Well, we bet that the NL HR leader would try to bunt with 2 strikes, 2 outs with no one on base, and it happened.

big 12 (eavesdropping): Kyle frickin Schwarber!!!

So there you have it.

Love the effort. As entertaining as any of the imaginary/plausibly real Dusty Baker conversations on this board in the last few years.

Hopefully that's 5 on top of the three years of control they already had.

That buys out 2 free agent seasons.

Good work. Love seeing a good young player getting secured for a few years. Hopefully, Framber’s deal is on the horizon.

I’m so excited to see what he does here. The comments about Dana from the rest of the league were so encouraging
