Ok let’s really go down the rabbit hole now…GD Spradlin (the One on One coach) was Nick Nolte’s coach in North Dallas Forty!
Phil Elliott could have been the original Jerry Rice. Smoking grass…hell if they suspended all the guys in the league for smoking grass they couldn’t field a punt return team.

Spradlin's filmography is something else. He played a General 7 times, a senator 2 times, the president 3 times, plus:
2 Colonels
1 Commander
1 Military Judge
1 U.S. Marshal
3 Reverends/Pastor
2 Head Coaches
2 Chiefs/Sheriffs
The guy could act like a better leader than the manager and GM who just won the World Series.

Jim Crane says the Astros will stay active in the market and that Yuli and Justin Verlander are in the mix.

I love seeing this......Let's get another bat by either re-signing JV and trading a starter or two OR let JV go and sign a Catcher who can hit and/or an OF that can hit.

The ball will be in JV’s court
How much is winning WS Championships worth to him? His time in Houston? His prime pay for 2 seasons he didn’t perform? The tax break he gets in TX?
I expect none of those things matter at all. And that doesn’t bother me, b/c I think his money is better spent elsewhere
I do think the thing that matters to him is wins, not championships. That's why he's talking to the Mets and Dodgers. If either of them agree to 3/$120m, he's gone. If they don't, then I guess we will see.
I think the 3 years is the big thing for him. Yes, money, but he wants 3 years.
If JV is gone, we will still be fine. Take out JV and get us more bats and it equals out.

That Robby Benson sure was dreamy.
I sure thought so. I haven't thought of that name or movie in at least 40 years!

I know now that at least half the regular season DAT are old fricks like me.

No mention of Brantley
I guess his rehab isn't going all that well, and/or we won't afford him as long as JV is still on the table
The Abreu signing does kinda negate the absolute need for his QABs, even if it's from the right side instead of the left. They both hit same arm side pitching well
I am personally greedy when it comes to having Brantley, for a lot of reasons. Hopefully his market coming off of injury allows us to bargain snatch him

Bagwell:
There are many things numbers can't measure and agreed the org had gone too far on relying on analytics
He believes Brad ausmus would be a great front office leader
He thinks they need another LF but wants yordon to play 45 to 50% of the games in LF.
Says he would not consider becoming the GM. Doesn't want that position.
He's loyal to crane because of how he supported him during struggles in his personal life

I have the feeling Bagwell will be drafting hitters based on their RBI total.

Big Yikes from Baggy
We’re where we are because of “analytics”

I'm not shitting on Bagwell. He knows the game.
I like having his voice as a counter or complement to pure numbers driven decision making at the MLB level but you need strong process and analytics to build a player acquisition and development org.

Crane says we are not finished! Mentioned Yuli and Verlander by name and others they are talking to.
Also says no GM before Jan but wants to have one prior to season start.

Baggy seems to have a big piece of Cranes ear. I don't love it. As I've said before I don't want his "the way it's always been done" philosophy guiding the organization.
