Craig Biggio wore #4 in his Astros Debut. Sign of things to come?

Before someone says I'm comparing Springer to Trout, I'm not and don't expect a Trout type player....

No comp, but just for fun...
Springer MiLB: 284 G, 1264 PA, .959 OPS, 135 XBH, 85 SB.
Trout MiLB: 286 G, 1312 PA, .941 OPS, 114 XBH, 108 SB

Big difference there is Trouts MiL K% was 16%. Springer's K rate is 26%. FWIW, Trout has a 21% ML K rate.

If those numbers are similar, why are the K rates relevant?
Maybe if the K rate wasn't so high, Springer's numbers would be WAY better than Trouts!

For all the crap we've taken over the past 3 years, today is a glimpse into the future for the tried and true Astros fans. Fans of other teams can laugh at us about how excited we're getting about this but those fair-weather fans would have turned into Ranger or Braves fans 3-4 years ago when the process was started.
I tip my hat to all of my fellow Astros fans. It's officially started.

well if we assume a rise in K rate, Springer is likely gonna strikeout at a Kris Karter like pace. Prepare yourself. Springer won't hit for average and he's gonna strike out a ton. Unlike Karter though, Springer actually brings value in other ways. So he's not totally useless if he strikes out a ton. Scary fact...Springers minor league k rate is higher than Karters minor league k rate.

That's true. He is going fan a bunch but hopefully walks a bunch and steals bases while adding 25 hr

There's no one....ever....will be as useless as Kris Karter.
Eh. VER.

Astros should hope for a faster, less powerful Adam Dunn

Next question is who replaces Lucas Harrell in the rotation?

My disdain for Karter rivals no one.

I've seen Mike Cameron as a comp for him. Cameron regularly played good defense, was good for double digit walk rate, 20 homers and 20 steals.
Cameron's per 162:
.249 88 runs 32 doubles 5 tripled 23HR 80RBI 25SB 72 walks 158 strikeouts.
I'd be thrilled if Springer could regularly post that season.

C insinuated that there was no use for him to play RF in the minors to play at the MLB and that's just ridiculous.
BS. Luhnow's position was the he can't be brought up until he learns to play RF. Which I think is BS. And everyone knows is BS. Springer played RF the previous years. And if it was that important, why are you platooning him at CF? Its BS. They want contract leverage and have been screwing the fans and making bad long term business decisions. My prediction is that you will not see the Astros in the playoffs more than 1 time over the next 5 years and they will be in the bottom 5 in attendance over the next 10 years.

. A line drive hit by a left-handed batter from an inside curve ball is one of the most difficult to judge in the outfield. And almost all of those hits end up in RF.
What exactly do you think a ball does off a LH bat when hit to RF? Im cracking up over here.
