Couldn’t be an embarrassing loss without a GIDP with runners on

Eta: well obviously runners on dipshit. I guess what I meant is multiple runners on and killing a rally

My favorite stat of the year. Yordan was out for 4 months. He returned for like 4 games and took over the team lead for sac flies.

Its that shite right there. You're down 5 runs. Runner on 3rd and 1 out. Just get the ball off the fricking ground. But 75% of the time, they ground into a double play.

With 6 games to go, the Astros have fallen outside of playoff position. Feels Goodman.

The much, much better team played with more urgency and dominated. Not much more to it than that. The difference in confident aggressive swings by the M’s to the passive passes by everyone outside of Cole truly is crazy to watch.

Division was put on ice tonight, but it was lost the last two weeks of August and first week of September when they couldn’t separate while the M’s were struggling.

Well this is honestly what I expected, just expected it by mid July. This team had no business being where they were at the ASB. It was smoke and mirrors on all sides. The Mariners got Suarez and Naylor and we got 6 home run Carlos Correa. For a team who seems to care a ton about analytics, we have abandoned the long ball in favor of a bunch of singles and tons LOB. our mental and physical midget leads the team in homers with less than 30. It all needs to change. Two straight years of anemic offense should predicate major changes, but we will see

Not that it matters much but here's the playoff picture we're facing

Wild Card:

Yankees: 88-68
Red Sox: 85-71
Guardians: 84-72
___________________
Astros: 84-72

We lose a tie breaker to every team ahead of us, as well as the Tigers who lead the central by 1 game and start a series at Cleveland on Tuesday.

Remaining schedules

Yankees: vs White Sox, vs Orioles

Red Sox: @ Blue Jays, vs Tigers

Guardians: vs Tigers, vs Rangers

Tigers: @ Guardians, vs Red Sox

Astros: @NotOakand @Anaheim

So if we can handle our shite, we may benefit from having teams in front of us playing each other. Basically our best path forward is we need to go at least 4-2 and see either Cleveland or Detroit go 2-4 or worse.

So we really have sunk to the level to where we may need help from the frickers in Arlington?

Somehow if the rockies get 1 win over the Mariners, the division is still possible. The Dodgers could easily sweep the Mariners

Good thing my left oblique soreness allowed me to miss that turd last night. I did catch it this morning though.

Here is where we are:

I don’t think we can rely on enough teams to lose enough games to back up into the playoffs. This team is so torturous to watch. No energy, no plan, no balls.

They will go 2-4 against the As and Angels. Miss completely. Will be a fitting end to the season

Correa, Walker, Altuve, McCullers on the books next year for a total over $90mm in 2026. We'll be lucky if we get positive WAR out of that group.

Yordan, Javier, and Hader on the books for another $70mm with Pena, Brown, Paredes, and Yainer getting more expensive in arbitration. Hard to see where we have any financial flexibility to add anything in 2026

Type to start selling parts while they still have value and start the rebuild

We do not deserve to make the playoffs. The expanded format might save our arse

All true. Would have been nice for management to have capitalized on Framber, but that would have required Luhnow-like vision

Pena must be dealt like Tucker, but not likely to match that return

Already feel sorry for any idiots that would show up for a home playoff game should they be forced to play one. Only hope for change on the coaching staff is to miss the playoffs.

Gotta disagree with you there. Pena is at peak value. It's the obvious play, especially if Dana can snag a SS of the future in the deal.

I'll guess Walker and Pena are gone (for very different reasons). I believe the Alonso rumors are true. Dana will have more power in the lineup.

Well, if you think Pena will snag a Paredes-type MLB ready position player, a #5 starting rotation P, AND a 1st round pick from year before that is almost MLB ready, count me in NOW

Do it before the season is over. LOL

They've gotta be honest about whether theyre going to make an honest effort to resign Peña. His development this year has been great to watch. But it also makes him much more expensive after 2026. Gotta treat him like Tucker. If hes not going to resign, weve gotta trade him. Sell high on this season with a full year of control.

Bet the Yankees wouldn't love to dump shitty Volpe for Peña.

In that circumstance, that opens back up 3rd for ESock and sends Correa back to short. Although you have to weigh that one too. Correa has been very open that his body feels a lot better at 3rd. Less daily wear

And Walker, I dont know what you do about that. He's not totally flat lined. Hes got 23 doubles, 23 homers and driven in 82 so hes not completely unproductive. Somebody would probably have him. But you gotta eat a good chunk of that 2/40 remaining.

Walker's was great in the field.

Well, when comparing to the 1B that literally cost you games the year before.
