4.5 game lead over the Mariners with 13 games to go. Magic number is 9.

3 @ Padres
4 vs Angels
3 vs Mariners
3 @ Guardians

Mariners
3 vs Yankees
4 @ Rangers
3 @ Astros
3 vs A's

Of note, we'll have to sweep the Mariners when they come to Houston to take the tie breaker over them as they currently have a 6-4 record in the season series.

3 vs Yankees - The Yankees suck, F the Yankees

4 @ Rangers - The Rangers suck, F the Rangers

3 @ Astros - the Astros suck at home

3 vs A’s - finally the Mariners will have to play a good team

It’s going to be a tight finish

I’m less worried about losing the division as I am about Seattle sneaking in the wild card and them being who we would have to face

This may be incredibly stupid but they are the last team in the AL that I’d wanna face in a 3 game playoff series. Their offense has slightly improved since Edgar took over as hitting coach and we would have MAJOR issues scoring runs against their pitching

The decent news is I’m pretty sure I read they lose the tiebreaker against the other teams in the wildcard hunt and will likely need to finish the season 10-3 to have a chance of making the postseason

We won't be tied and won't need the tiebreaker.

Win each series. We really probably don't have to do that. No way Seattle wins all their remaining games. Seattle loses at least 3. Win half our games and we are good.

This is correct. If the Astros take care of business, they won’t need a tiebreaker. In other words, win 1 in San Diego, beat the shite out of the Angels and win 1 or 2 against Seattle.

My DAT brethren, I won’t be posting this on another board or forum. This is a more close knit group than most and I’ve seen a few heart wrenching stories in this group over the years. Now, unfortunately, my family has suffered a tough time. My younger son has been increasingly become more withdrawn this year and decided to take his life Thursday. Miraculously he survived. He shot himself in the head with a 22 rifle and was alone in my field for 6 hours until I found him when I came home from work. I’m not looking for attention. I simply want your prayers if you pray…if you don’t, that’s fine too. No matter what, be grateful for each moment you have with your loved ones. Time is precious.

Thank you. It was truly awful. I came home and saw his truck in the driveway and work clothes lying on the couch. I asked his sisters where he was and they hadn’t seen him since they got home from school. I found his phone on the dining room table (huge red flag in this case) and I got a sick feeling in my stomach. I’m out on my boots and walked out the back door to think for a second and our dog barked at me and ran off into the field. I followed and he was about 40 yards away covered one blood and ants. I thought he was gone…
I fell on him screaming and crying and he opened one eye and asked how I found him. He shot himself at 11:30 and had been out there alone for hours.

I’ve typed multiple things and then deleted because I can’t find the words to say. My heart dropped when reading your post(s). I am truly very sorry and please know that you and your family will genuinely be in my thoughts and prayers

I do not want to make this about me whatsoever, but I’m in my mid 30’s and have spent the last ~15 years diagnosed with treatment resistant major depressive disorder which has included multiple long stays at hospitals as an inpatient. I am nowhere near “healed” or where I want to be, but I have made progress.

I say all of this only because I want you (or your son) to feel free to contact me if you just need someone different who has dealt and is dealing with those struggles to be able to lend an ear.

God bless you man

Thanks everyone. Five-deep, I’ll probably take you up on that because I am so lost right now. He should eventually fully recover physically. The bullet was millimeters in any direction of being lethal. He currently has skull fragments and the bullet near the frontal lobe. The concern is that brain swelling from shockwave can take several days. If his brain swells and pushes against those fragments or the bullet, it would be disastrous.
The scary part is that he’s verbal but very disconnected. He has zero emotion, to the point of making dark jokes. “Good thing I did t use the twelve gauge, huh”.

Yeah I can’t imagine how you must feel and the millions of things going on in your head. Just make sure he knows you love him no matter what and will be with him side by side to fight this. If it wasn’t for my family and their support there is zero chance I’d still be here today. I know how much they love and care about me though and how ruined their lives would be if something did happen to me…and knowing that has kept me alive.

On the other hand, it is vital for you to also take care of yourself. You are experiencing things nobody should ever have to experience and probably have no idea what to do. Please talk to a professional or someone you trust and get some counsel. If you just bury everything deep inside it’ll make things worse in the long run. It helps so much to just talk to someone and unload your thoughts and feelings. I would highly recommend that for every member of your family
