I'll jump on the DAT grenade with the Johnny Wholestaff approach.

What a weird first two games of this series. Hopefully Miley gets fixed soon. If it's rest he needs he has basically given himself two turns in the rotation off so maybe that helps.

Today could be rough but with how the offense has been there's always a chance.

Urquidy is getting the start and after last nights Miley fueled shite show, I imagine he'll go as long as possible.

Wade Miley's ERA is still only at 3.74... goes to show how good he was up until these last two starts.

Need that old guy back.

Yeah, I am not ready to throw Wade-baw to the scrap heap just yet. He still has a couple of turns left in the rotation left to figure it out.

I think it has been pointed out that Miley has faced Seattle and Oakland a LOT this year and maybe they just figured him out. Before the 1st inning snowballed on him again last night, the A's had 3 shift hits and 2 others that fell in front of an outfielder...and 1 hit that got past Bregman that he somehow didn't field. It isn't like they beat Miley all over the ball park last night.

Urquidy has shown where he can be OK for 3-5 innings. I actually have faith that he can get around an order twice.

I don't know about twice thru, but 2-3 innings worth.

The bullpen should be rested after sitting thru 3 blowouts with no significant arms used

The scary part for Miley is we could easily be facing Oakland in a 5 game series in the playoffs. I like the matchup for us overall but not necessarily in regards to Miley because I think he’s extremely hittable the more times you see him.

LSUGrad, you had a good run.

It’s amazing how your run began and ended on games in which Miley didn’t make it out of the first inning.

Oakland murders lefties so it explains why we've had so much success against them. Ain't got none but Wade.

Miley thinks his approach has been found out so he says he'll need to make changes. Let's hope there's time for them to be implemented and stick.

Adding...because people attacking your approach shouldn't lead to being knocked out of the game before you even break a sweat like that.

"That’s what I’ve got to figure out before my next one,” Miley said. “It’s been three or four in a row now. It started in Chicago (on Aug. 14). They did a really good job of staying in on balls and that was a day I really wasn’t locating like I wanted to. But the last two, you want to say tip your hat to the other team but I’ve got to get better. That’s on me. That can’t happen.”

I know it doesn't make sense, but I literally think his career is over.

I can't think of a situation where a guy got hit this bad (worse than every position player that has taken the mound this year for every team) and came back to pitch effectively.

Can anyone come up with an example that might give poor Miley some hope? Otherwise, chalk up another good decision from Luhnow not approaching his agent about an extension.

Never say never. They once said that about Eddie Harris.

If it was a situation where he lost control and walked a bunch of guys, that would be one thing. This is a horse of an entirely different color. And for those reasons, he's out

I’m not ready to go that far yet because what he’s giving up is, for the most part, soft contact. I don’t think a shift should be employed when Miley is pitching. He doesn’t throw hard enough to avoid contact, and shifting provides easy gaps for hitters who can handle the bat to guide balls into. I really see no difference in his stuff over the last two starts compared to previous starts. Hitters have made adjustments, the LLC needs to provide some protection from those adjustments. If that doesn’t work, proceed as necessary.
