Plus it was the 7th inning already. Literally just burn the DH and get a guy you want swinging in that spot and play like a NL team in a game you were likely never going to come back in anyways.
Probably not even going to get back to the 9 hole anyway and if the game is even close there’s few scenarios where you’d have a guy do an up down so it’s not like risking a reliever
