Remember his bases clearing double against the Dodgers in the one game playoff?

8 starts left. Does Hunter Brown have an outside shot at CY?

Skubal 2.35 ERA
Brown 2.45

Skubal gave up 3 and 4 his last two starts. He'll probably pitch a 7IP shutout next time.

Skubal has more national recognition and he’s not an Astro. He’d have to tank really hard for Hunter to have a chance.

He’d have to basically be unhittable on the run in. The way the media fawns over Skubal every time he pitches is too much to overcome

Anyone think it would be a good idea go after Jarren Duran in the offseason? Red Sox are probably going to dump him due to their logjam in the OF. He has club option for $8M next year and not a FA until after 2028. I like Jake, but Duran would definitely be an upgrade at the plate.

Really bad news on hader. Shoulder surgeries are not easy to come back from for pitchers. If its a rotator cuff or labrum it could be basically careeer ending as far as ever being back to his former velocity. I certainly would not expect him to contribute much the next 2 seasons.

More dead money for injured / useless players.

Great series win and just in time, too. I’m just getting the feeling that the lineup is still seemingly a little disjointed with the new guys. Everything is still getting felt out. Hopefully they continue to get comfortable and are able to contribute in big ways down the stretch.

Eovaldi could make a run but probably too few games and he's not likely to keep his ERA under 2.

I don’t think we have the starter they’d want for Duran aside from Hunter, which obviously isn’t happening. They will deal him for a Joe Ryan, Edward Cabrera, etc

No worries.

He's been talking to LMJ about how to re-invent himself. Been long tossing with his right arm

I still think the Rangers are a better team.

Astros are:

1 game up in the division
2 games back of the best record in the AL
4 games up on the last Wildcard spot

Oh, but if Jake, Esock, and Yordan weren’t mostly dead…

Actually 5 games ahead of Cleveland, which is No. 7. That’s the true lead the Astros have for a playoff spot.
