As I'll be at work all night and only able to follow on gamecast and not participate in the DAT since I'm not going to know what's going on, I just wanted to reiterate how ridiculously fricking terrible of a poster you are. You suck something fierce.

Wat do yall think about Justin Upton? That's the latest name I'm hearing thrown out there.

I don't think it's worth going after an outfielder when we will get Springer back. We are trying to tread water without him so we would need to get one soon to make it worth trading for someone

Upton makes sense for a rental. Would cost less in prospects and we aren't on the hook for any money after the year.

Solid points. Assuming he'd take over left/Tucker. It would be a win now move too, while giving up less. That said, I want Tucker to play the rest of the way and get his ABs. Let's see what he's got.

Will Correa be old enough?

Ahhh... thanks Google. When we clinch prior to Sept 22, the Astros will delay the celebration until Carlos turns 21.

And then I have to start shopping for Ryno's Crawford Boxes playoff ticket.

You better shape up Ryno, or I'll buy the seats on each side of you and give them to the fattest, smelliest, most obnoxious fans of whoever the Astros are playing.

I think we need to do more than tread water. The timeline on Springer was 6-8 assuming theres no setback. That means we could be without Springer anywhere from 28 to 41 of our remaining 77 games. Thats 36% to 53% of the rest of our season. Plus we have no idea if Springer will be the same player immediately coming off of this injury.

Its a risky move to try to "tread water" relying on Marisnick's struggling bat, a rookie in Tucker and journeyman quad-A player Alex Presley. Even when Springer was healthy, a trade for an OF would have been viable.

I mentioned 3 weeks ago that I felt Luhnow should make a move before July 1. With an even more slump-prone offense, the Astros truly need anotother TOR starter. And a replacement for Thatcher and Qualls.

Another month will be too late.

I mean, provided we have a good week heading into the break, we'll be halfway through July. That means just two weeks tops to wait for the trades to happen.

In the meantime, you get a chance to see how certain question marks are developing.

SP - Insert Ron Paul here. But we get to see a little more of when Velasquez stands for now. He pitched into the 7th his last two starts versus really good teams. Encouraging trend.

RP - Tony Sipp and Chad Qualls. Will they be reliable arms down the stretch? The next 2-3 weeks will tell the tale. We all want them to acquire a LH pitcher here.

OF - We'll get to that two week checkpoint on Springer to see whether he is healing quickly enough. We'll see more of Tucker in the two-hole, where he seems very comfortable so far. If George looks to be back before September and Ted's brother hits, we're fine here.

IF - Jed is coming back. That's huge and makes a potential 3B platoon very nice. Plus, he can play first! Whew...because it would be a stunner to get an upgrade at 1B in a deal.

I'm interested to see what we do here. There have been some frustrating moments recently but big picture the bullpen is still one of the very best in baseball statistically. I would be kind of upset if we made some big splashy move like getting Papelbon and giving up something worth a shite in the process, I would be shocked if that happened though. Get a better LOOGY and kick Thatcher to the curb and be done with it.

I pretty much agree with you here.. in principle. So long as your plan also includes limiting Qualls outings to only days that do not end with the letter 'y'.

I think we all have the same feelings on Qualls if we trade for a SP and our rotation is DK Jabroni LMJ Feldman and mystery trade pickup then we could see VV moved to the pen
