MT nooner is the "ultimate Chris Carter defender" from the 10th inning show last night. Wasn't listening last night so I'm excited to hear this

I missed it. He must post on TCB...I love the sanctimonious back slapping they do on there about how much more educated they are than the average Joe fan...I have a feeling astrology baw my be starting up a good trolling campaign soon.

ASTRO baw is a good natured stros fan...he believes in tradional stats like RBI and pitcher wins. He likes double switches..bunting guys over in the 5th inning and milo Hamilton.

I think we're in the clear to bash Carter. According to everyone's favorite stat

quote:

League average for position players is 100, and every point above 100 is a percentage point above league average. For example, a 125 wRC+ means a player created 25% more runs than a league average hitter would have in the same number of plate appearances. Similarly, every point below 100 is a percentage point below league average, so a 80 wRC+ means a player created 20% fewer runs than league average.

Carter's wRC+ is 99 so he creates 1% fewer runs than league average. I think if we bring this up at TCB they'll either discount wRC+ and find some other advanced statistic to tout Carter's worth or pat him on the back for being league average.

Ground Control should focus on cloning science. We need more Carlos Correas.

They'll say it's a small sample size even though we are halfway through the season. And they'll say he was above average the last 2 years

The other thing I looked up about the wRC+ stat last time it was brought was where Carter ranked among qualifying first basemen. He was like 18th out of 25 last time I checked and that was when he was doing better a few weeks ago

But but but he is going to have a great finish to the year because he had a great finish last year. We have to wait!

It's a joke. His wRC+ compared to others at a key offensive producing spot is a joke. His defense is below average. Everything about his game is below average except he draws walks, mostly because he simply cannot hit very well.

I've wanted to take that info over there as well. Yeah by wRC+ he's an above average "hitter" but among 1B-men, a position where you want very above average hitters, he's is dogshit

I don't care if you stick a thermometer up Carter's arse to measure his value. When you pull it out, it's going to read "0".

So I realized today that we're just 21-20 on the road. That's a problem.

We don't face Archer in Tampa so there's a chance that record can improve a bit this week.

The know it all posters on TCB are ridiculous and I love to troll them.

They once told me that striking out doesn't matter because it doesn't negatively affect the offense and then started linking all this advanced statistics bullshite as proof to their stupidity.

I'm all for SOME advanced statistics. There are some of those stats that are just grasping at straws to me though
