Not good news for McCann IMO. But Maldanado is really good defensively.

Definitely a good move if they don’t want to bring up Stubbs. Fed was dead weight

Still think we need another bat if we can't get a reliever
Posted on 7/26/18 at 11:38 am to Lsuhoohoo
Hopefully we’ve kept Whitley

I think Maldonado is strictly McCann insurance for the post-season.

Maldonado should finish playoff games when we have a lead.

Maldonado has 2 hits in his last 8 games.

This just in, 90% of catchers in MLB are nothings offensively

New Angels LHP Patrick Sandoval: high-volume strike thrower, 90-92 t94, 55 curveball, 50 change. Backend starter type with 97:15 K:BB ratio this year. Was overslot 11th rd SoCal arm in 2015.

Kinda bummed we gave up Sandoval though, he was having a good year. That’s a nice pickup for the Angels considering

That seems like too much to give up for a backup C... but it's not like the Astros system isn't loaded with pitching talent.

Like the trade. An upgrade is an upgrade, even at backup catcher. For as much as the Liriano/Maybin moves weren’t though of as major, both those guys contributed to a WS victory. Never know what can happen.
Still would like a bullpen arm but I’m not sure what upgrades are realistically available.

Only guy I clearly see worth a significant trade who can fill a big void in the pen is Adam Conley. We can still use a lefty who dominates LHH, no matter how good peak Devo can be.
But another right-handed specialist wouldn't hurt because Joe Smith...

Ill take a backup gold glove catcher for a minor league pitcher.

Source: Brewers getting Joakim Soria.
Market is getting thin. Maybe we can snag Clayton Richard and his 5 ERA and hope he turns into a dominant LH reliever.

Consider me a big fan of Maldonado trade. Best defensive catcher we’ve had since Ausmus?
Posted on 7/26/18 at 12:41 pm to Lsuhoohoo
No thanks. I don't want another potential Liriano coming here. I do agree our market for bullpen arms are getting thin, and since I don't see us getting Iglesias, I'm not sure where the Astros go from here.

Adam Conley and Realmuto for Stassi and some prospects.
ETA: Plus Bryce Harper obviously.
