Battle of Ragin Cajuns on the mound

Dana did an XM interview this morning. Says they're gonna try to go big on starting pitching. Doesn't hurt to ask. If they can't get thet done, may go for a couple mid level pitchers. not a lot there I guess. Of course you want to target the best if you can get it. But trade talk is trade talk.

Ticket question for the DAT. So I’m looking for tix for Frida nights Dodgers game. Is one ticket site any better than another? I was trying to get 5 and the fees were like $260 bucks. This was on gametime and seatgeek I think. Ridiculous.

He does know he has Garcia and JV in his back pocket for this season, with Javier and others coming back next season, right? Why give away the farm in the short-term? If anything, I think we are hurting for middle relief (I guess we can move a starter to bullpen slot if we sign a SP though)

Now, I'm totally fine with trading Framber and a prospect or 2 if that's what it takes to get a strong arm. I would rather a 1B though. I don't know how many quality starts we've had this season and haven't been able to win because we score less than 2 or 3 runs. Hell, both Rangers game we just lost were quality starts and we had no run support.

Singleton is starting to fade; Dubon is utility and often not sure what you're going to get with him; Loperfido has a 40% K rate. Statistically, we are the worst in the league at 1B

They’re obviously not trading Framber. How many guys in the current rotation do you feel confident in starting in a 5 game series? Starter is the clearest area they need to upgrade

They can get both a SP and 1B. They are not mutually exclusive

HB and JV for sure; 50/50 on Blanco considering he's never pitched this many innings in his career and not sure what his arm condition will be down the stretch, but I would give him the nod for now. Not sure what Garcia will be like, but I also think he'll be fine. I definitely trust the unknowns of Blanco and Garcia over Framber though; he's a total crap-shoot.

Maybe I'm trying to convince myself because there's a glaring hole at 1B and I'm tired of looking at it

100% agree. Feels like Dana is a one or the other type of guy to me

We won the series against the Twins and Mariners and fought well against the rangers…so this is where we crap the bed and lose three to the As, right?

I’m all for acquiring any starters but I will continue to scream from the rooftops that we need to address 1B

It’s been talked about a ton in here so no reason to do it again but at the very least a righty to platoon with Jon

On that note…:anybody wanna look up Ty France’s advanced stats against lefties?

Aledmys Díaz is back with the Astros. He'll wear No. 12. Grae Kessinger optioned to Triple-A. David Hensley was DFAd to make room on the 40-man roster

This does nothing for me. Dude looked washed in Oakland. But Kessinger was pointless. It's late July, he's spent most of the season on the roster and he's got 15 at bats in 15 games. 2 starts.

What does Diaz bring to the table? Didn’t he get DFA'd by the A's? He spends a week in PBI and he's now ready to face MLB pitching? I know Kessinger didn't bring anything to the table, but it sounds like a Crane & the 4 Dwarfs player personnel decision.

I would try to go to one of the team's Facebook fan pages. There are 2 very legit Astros FB resale sites where tons of STHs resell their tickets, sometimes for more and sometimes for face. You get by without fees. You can do a bit of research (profiles going back for years, posts in the groups for years selling) and help ensure that you aren't scammed. I lot of people are scared of this, but it's the cheapest way to get the best seats. I've bought Astros tickets that way for years and sold as well when I was a STH.

I don't think there is much of anyone out there that will make the hole much less glaring. What we have now is just serviceable, but it's not like Ty France has been much better. Likely, we'd pay a lot more money that what we are now and have a very minimal upgrade. Better to just spend money on pitching.

I agree and Ive been right about EVERYTHING

I do agree we need pitching depth because JV is not back Blanco has never gone this far ..etc etc
There's many many more unknowns on the pitching staff than there is at first base
Barring an injury to Singleton I don't know what's out there that is worth anything that the trading team would take for them and even if that deal were made the injury issue remains. Dubon would be worst case scesnario now and if it got worse there would be a whole lot more going wrong

You know the way it looks now most if not all playoff teams in baseball have dealt with injuries this season. And given the Astros age and window I don't see an upgrade at first space this season worth what would be given up into the pitching staff a injury laden staff might still get to the ALCS

if Tuck is out or limps through a playoff run that makes iy vv tough regardless of any moves

Seriously, WTF could possibly be wrong with Tucker? This is truly ridiculous. He has always been a very durable player in his previous seasons.
