The west coast pain train rolls on to Seattle. We are one day away from Lance returning

Diaz is such trash. He should never pitch in MLB again. He is AA caliber

Meh.

On Astros, as usual he made sure to poop on tProcess because he secretly hates Luhnow. Immediately pointed out that the core of the team (Tuve, DK and George) were inherited. No mention of Correa, McCullers or all those savvy trades of vets for prospects and "throw-ins" like Martes, of course.

Then he talked about how the process doesn't normally include "overpaid veterans" but the Astros needed to sign McCann, Beltran and Reddick for leadership. He has no clue, I'm sure, that the Yankees are paying part of McCann's contract. Reddick is overpaid? Beltran may be though (on just a one year deal), but OMG Luhnow's not smart and stuff.

Later in an unrelated segment, CJ brought up McCullers and how he may be tired in October from a career high number of innings. Of course, no mention of how he's taken a couple of weeks off this month and likely will be rested down the stretch.

Summary: CJ being CJ.

Hilarious to me that Keuchel was "inherited" except he was horrible until 2014 when Luhnow's guys coached him up. The rest is also laughable.

That guy seems salty as frick.

Hell the best four of the best 5 or 6 players on the rangers aren't homegrown, why the hell should that matter.

A GM makes trades and free agent signings to make his team better? The horror

Also if Seattle falls out of the race in the next few weeks, how would everyone feel about Paxton from Seattle? Saw an Astros blogger on twitter suggest it.

I'd love to have him, would imagine he'd be pretty damn expensive too since he's under control for 3 more years

If the M's are ready to deal Paxton this year, that tells me they think his injury issues are a major risk.

True, he's got the best upside out of the bunch though.

I doubt he'll be available anyway.

I forget that basically everyone is still in the AL wildcard race, outside of Oakland

So if we acquire a starter, we're gonna have some competition on the back end for who gets forced out.

Keuchel
Mccullers
Acquired starter

Those are locks

So you'd have Musgrove, Morton, Fiers, McHugh and Peacock potentially gunning for 2 spots.

Morton is a virtual lock assuming health. Fiers is a lock if he keeps pitching this way. Peacock to the pen and Musgrove to Fresno. McHugh, well, I'm still not sure when he's coming back so I won't put him anywhere yet. We could always pull what the dodgers were doing and have a 6 man rotation with each guy taking a turn off to go on the phantom DL

I feel like the acquired starter will cost us one of those arms, especially if certain prospects are off the table.

A look at the Mets roster says to ask about Jerry Blevins, lefty reliever rental.

LINK

He has great numbers (LHH have career .563 OPS against) and 7 scoreless playoff innings pitched in his career. Gimme.

Gammons is just senile but I see him credit the Astros quite a bit. CJ Nitkowski clearly has a bias against Houston that may date back to his playing days.
