I would do that in a heartbeat but he will get much more with how weak the pitching is in FA this year

That's the driving factor. I'm not convinced he's an ace in the mold of the current $200 million guys but the FA starter market is really bad. That's leverage in favor of Boras/Stras. I have no doubt 200 will be the minimum bid for his services, but he'll get north of that.

Will be interesting to see what the numbers are. They have a future ace in Giolito coming up plus Scherzer so I honestly thought they would let him walk

good timing for this discussion. That just killed the FA pitcher market. Twitter says a 7 year deal with multiple opt outs.

ETA: 7 years $175 million

Gomez/Kluber should be good for some lulz.

And Gattis just did Gattis things in CC. Grounded into a bases loaded 0 outs double play.

A promotion to Class AAA for Astros pitching prospect Joe Musgrove is "imminent," general manager Jeff Luhnow said Monday, so much so that the 23-year-old righthander may make his next start for Fresno

quote:

Luhnow reiterated Monday he's not afraid to promote pitchers from Class AA directly to the major leagues but said he currently does not see an opening for Musgrove in the Astros rotation. That could change as the season wares on, of course.

quote:

The Astros are managing Musgrove's workload so that he is available to the major-league club later in the year.
