Burrows is the poster boy for the difference in command vs control
Posted on 5/20/26 at 2:07 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
He has Batting Practice Control.

Jeez Ryan was dominant today

This is where the Espada mismanagement bites you in the arse. He punted on that rain delay game with Murray which immediately looked stupid as they put up 3 runs in the next inning.

This offense is just very bad.
So right handed, so injured, no pop outside of Yordan and Walker, so much swing and miss (22 whiffs today)
If you have a RHP that throws hard and has two different breaking pitches it's a guaranteed QS.
Radio said in their last 10 losses they've only scored 16 runs. Averaging a hair over 2 runs per game in May, only ahead of the Angels.
And the 5-6-7 just got dominated by 5+ ERA pitcher.

I know he wasn't having an all star season but seemed like the runs scored dropped a lot when Correa got hurt.

As bad as the pitching was early on and as disappointing as Burrows and Imai have been, we’re starting to settle in on what was feared all offseason. The pitching has leveled out and the hitting has gone to shite.
We’re back to no discipline at the plate. Horrible with RSIP. Not stringing runs together. Strikeouts galore. Not drawing walks. 2025 all over again. The injuries to Correa and Altuve hurt, but it was starting to trend down even before they went out.
Expected result when no effort was made to improve the offense other than praying Yordan stayed healthy.

I don’t think you entertain trading Yordan
It obviously depends on the haul
Yed is more Fools Gold. He has arguably produced at a fair level for his compensation, but he is still the guy that you are saying if he could only stay healthy.
The man is one more knee swelling (from his two surgically repaired knees) from having a knee replacement. Oh, and the other things he needs, his hands, have been consistently injured too.
He is a gifted hitter, when he can hit. And sometimes even when he's healthy, he inexplicably can't hit (although I'll take his slumps over most of his competitors)
He is a long contract away from disappearing from the face of the Earth.

Astros have only scored in 3 of their last 39 innings played.
Twins bullpen is very bad, lots of moving pieces, have only allowed the 3 runs coming out of the rain delay on Monday and that dude immediately got DFA'd.
And the Twins finished today retiring 22 of 23 Astros batters.
Just another very very very bad series loss because you are a very very very bad team with no direction or ability to string positive results together.
Off day tomorrow before 10 straight. Really good opportunity to give Joe a commercial airline ticket back to Houston today and start the process of resetting the org.

Every team in the MLB would take Yordan on his contract.

Espada has to go. I don’t care about the injuries. Might as well get this rebuild thing going or somehow get a spark.
Posted on 5/20/26 at 3:02 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
Only saying that due to his missed time.
He was obviously a steal and bargain, but the only reason he could be had at that price was his history of injuries.
His value on the open market is sure to be astronomically above anything he will ever be able to produce on the field, or honestly, in the dugout walking to the plate 4-5 times a game for 130 games max.

I actually think Yordan is the first one we should consider trading. He’s just a hitter who is not hitting lately, he just coasts when playing the field and running the bases. He’s also due for an injury

So, you have to ask yourself, why do the Astros still have him?
How many Astros have signed early deals that were that much of a bargain?

And the really bad news is no real help is coming. Even went Altuve eventually gets back that’s no longer a significant needle mover.
The fact that this outfield consists of Jake, Cam, ZDZ, Cole, Matthews, plus Loperfido and Trammell should really be the fireable offense for Dana.
The pitching, while disappointing, is at least defendable given expected results from those guys vs. actual performance.
The OF looked like it would be bad and is in fact bad.

Watched the postgame with Espada. Here’s what he said:
- we’ve ran into good pitching recently which is why we can’t hit
- “6 strong innings from Burrows”
