Seemed more like a hot gun to me, but I was doing some reading and apparently Morton averaged 94 before he got hurt last year and was touching 95 up to 97.
LINK
This guy thinks there's reason to be optimistic on Morton. He seems to have pretty good stuff when he's not injured. Hes apparently been awful against left handed hitters and was working on a cutter to battle handed hitters. The optimism from our staff apparently lies with his spin rate and ground ball rate.

In today's news, Jon Heyman seems to really hate the Astros
That article made me a bit worried but after looking into it, it doesn't seem like a big deal and was expected
As far as today's game, unfortunately it's been more of the same. Zero offense (2 hits through 6 innings). And the bad news is, all of our regulars were atleast in the starting lineup.
As far as pitching, very encouraged to see:
Musgrove 3 IP 0 runs 2 hits 2 K
Gregerson 1 IP 0 runs 1 hit 2 k
Giles 1 IP 0 runs 0 hits 2 k
Buuuuttttttt Paulino just got shelled for 3 runs in the top of the 7
As I type this, Beltran hit a solo shot to make it 3-1 Mets in bottom 7

Probably should have payed Correa more imo. Kris Bryant 650,000 last year and the Red Sox gave Mookie betts 950,000 this year

Hinch has been given the keys to a World Rally Car caliber team and he's putting Hoke Coburn in charge of driving it.
I feel a season long case of blue balls coming on while I wait for this offense to start playing to its potential.

If there's a true competition, Musgrove has to have a leg up on Fiers through 2 starts.
I mean 2 and 3 inning stints in early spring training aren't a huge gauge but Musgrove has put up better results. Fiers with another Meh outing today
2.1IP 3H 2R 1ER 2BB 2SO

Please stop. Way too early for this LSU fan/Les Miles narrative.
I can only take so much and the DAT is really the only thing I really enjoy on TD anymore. Mainly because of your type of bellyaching.

Its tough to really judge spring but AJ Reed has had a pretty good spring and Jandel Gustave has as well

Never forget tKing of Spring Tyler White. His great spring lasted about a week into the real season and then fell apart. I don't think it's gonna matter much what Reed does in the spring, he's destined for Fresno.
They've got $47.5 million reasons to let Yanni Galleraga have the chance to sink or swim at 1st base.

Your post is thought provoking and relevant. It is also extremely persuasive.
I have seen the error of my ways and shall make the adjustments of which you request.

I just came across this Forbes article about in market streaming. It's from 3 days ago. I'm not sure if it's clear that there's a deal in place.
The article makes it sound like a done deal but the commissioners words make it sound more like something they're still working on

Regional sports networks under DirecTV-owned ROOT Sports will see in-market streaming for MLB games in 2017
And then there were just three.
Major League Baseball will have at least 27 teams with in-market streaming—and possibly all 30--for the upcoming 2017 regular season, that according to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred.

quote:
“Last year we added the FOX regional sports networks, earlier this offseason we added Comcast and SNY, and we will have the DirecTV-owned ROOT Sports networks, and NESN added to the list,” Manfred said. “That leaves us with [the Nationals and Orioles on] MASN and the Dodgers [on SportsNet LA].”

Don't count me out yet... I'm just on the back field doing long toss. I'm not going to be pitching off the mound until March 25.

Devo with another bad outing. He's not making a good case for a starting gig.

The hunch show rolls on in mid season form.
