I'm shocked. Thought they were both locks.

No he's included. I don't know what purpose he serves when we're also carrying Diaz, Jake and Hensley.

Altuve
Pena
Yed
Breggy
Ted
Mancini
Yuli
Chas's Dick
Maldy
Vazquez
Diaz
Hensley
Meyers
Dubon

That would be 14 position guys... one of them is likely off and we know it's one of those last two if Hensley is on.

Or we're rolling with 14/12, but that seems a little short-sighted considering the versatility of Diaz and Hensley.

I'll admit it. I'd rather Maton or Smith than Dubon.

Emergency shortstop in case there is a scenario where JP has to come out is the only thing that makes sense.

Dubon can run too, at least better than several regulars. Meyers makes more sense as a pinch runner though.

Dubon can't blow a lead from the bench, so there's that. They probably stuck him in that last spot since he comes with much lower risk from the bench than Maton or Smith.

Diaz and Hensley are both capable backups to Pena already.

Neither are as rangy as Dubon.

Well I can't speak on Hensley, but being 6'6 I wouldn't think he has the same first step as Dubon and I know I would rather someone other than Diaz at that position late in games.

It's not, but as long as Dubon isn't batting it doesn't really matter.

He's been a pretty fine SS when he's played there in is his career and there's like a 5% chance he will be needed so it doesn't really matter. He makes the roster much more athletic at very little cost

Smith has been pretty good as an Astro. I think he's more valuable over the course of a series than Dubon, but you're right, chances are neither will alter the outcome.

I definitely agree with you there on Smith, really shocked he didn't make the roster.

It's a good thing that the biggest complaints are over the 26th man on the roster, I'm ready to ride
