If the Yankees win the East, it is still pretty likely that the Astros will play the Yankees in the first round.
It is unlikely that Houston will catch Cleveland, because the Indians hold the tie-breaker and finish with 3 games at home against Chicago.

Correct. It would be at Yankee Stadium, and Severino would be lined up to start for the Yankees.
I think I am rooting for this, just for the sake of chaos...and for the sake of having each team having to play an extra game

I'd much rather face Cleveland than Houston in the first round.
The Yankees match up very well with the Indians.

Indians have 3 gimmes to end the season vs. the White Sox and we play 4 against the Red Sox who have to keep winning to still win the division. Gonna be tough to overtake them.

So, this all started with you asking about pitching Keuchel on Sunday for HFA in ALCS.
I said the advantage of getting 1 seed would be facing NY w Keuchel getting Game 1.
Thus, not gonna happen using Keuchel.

You'd much rather face the Red Sox with Sale pitching only once or maybe even the Twins than face the Yankees.
Plus, if you have a chance at the best record, it's not just about who you'd play in the first round. It's also about home field against Cleveland in the ALCS. Honestly, the Astros should and would likely beat either Boston or New York. They would likely lose to Cleveland, IMO. Don't you want home field in a potential series against the Indians?
Houston/Cleveland would likely be a long series. Good luck trying to clinch on the road in Game 6 or 7 in that stadium.

I want Verlander in Game 1 vs CLE anywhere

And to get back to your Yankees, I don't think they can score enough against our pitching to win a series. We would start Keuchel and pitch him twice, w Verlander once.
Leaving Verlander to start vs CLE in Game 1

Are y'all actually paying attention to what the Yankees are doing right now?

They swept the Twins and then lost a series to the Blue Jays coming into this week.

I want to be nice and cozy in the second seed. Spotlight on cleveland. Let a hot aaron judge take a shot at their pitching staff. Play a Boston team with a staff going for their career high in innnings and a one armed Mookie betts with homefield. Hinch I think is thinking the same thing. Didnt mention the 1 seed when asked about homefield tonight. Seemed satisfied.
