That seems completely backwards. Pitch clock despite some old vets protesting can easily be adapted to and on the surface doesn’t affect competition. Mound visits have competitive purpose and can have frankly dangerous consequences if the pitcher and catcher aren’t on the same page with signs. I agree with McCann in particular he used a lot to calm our younger guys down

There is a stipulation that once the 6 visits are used up, at the umpires discretion, he can award additional ones if there are legitimate sign cross ups

Any good catcher is.
Houston never had (at least since I started watching in 1987) a catcher that could hit well and had respect of the pitchers until Brian McCann came along. 2017 doesn't happen if we didn't pick up McCann.
