"There's no way you can't think that the #Yankees are the team to beat in the American League." - @MadDogUnleashed

It's World Series or bust in The Bronx. #HighHeat

@JustinVerlander
I can think of a reason.

Christopher Russo is like the Skip Bayless of Baseball coverage. He says some outlandish crap to get a rise out of people and screams at times.

I like how we’ve positioned ourselves. Making a move at the deadline for relief help will be considerably cheaper than what the Yankees will have to do for a starter. We got Cole and just as importantly kept him from the Yankees (who from what I understand can’t go After darvish/arrieta due to payroll) Our lineup can match up 1-9. Both teams will be good lineups will be fantastic and like this year it’s going to boil down to elite starters vs elite relievers and who makes the right move at the deadline. Last year the Yankees acquired sonny gray, we acquired verlander. Simple as that.

Giles, Devo Peacock and Harris can get us through the regular season+additions of Rondon and smith. Would like to see us sign watson as well. Bukauskas and Martes could make an impact as well.

The thing is though you can look at what the nationals did they remade their entire bullpen at the deadline on the cheap compared to what we had to spend on verlander, yankees on gray cubs on quintana etc. Ill be happy to be just looking at bullpen help instead of rotation help this go round.

It sounds like Whitley is going to be set up to make a bullpen impact, too.

I expect that around mid-June, McHugh will take over the #5 spot in the rotation and McCullers will take over the closer spot.

McHugh at the 5-spot is acceptable.

Giles as set-up for LMJ in the closer role will be nasty.

No way I let this thread fall to the second page...

Cole looks a little out of shape. Keuchel looks like CY Keuchel.

DK says no communication on a contract. If nothing is done before the season he's going to pitch and not talk about it in respect to his teammates busting their asses. He gone.

Should trade him now while he still has value.

It's funny that Verlander said he likes having a target on his back considering he put one on Uptons in those famous photos.

Anthony Gose is fun:

quote:

Reporter: “Where’s your confidence level right now?”
Gose: “I throw 100. It’s high.”

It sucks that we'll likely lose him. I don't know what his ceiling will be but he needs some time to polish in the minors. He was pretty wild in his limited innings last year which is to be expected for a guy making the transition to the mound. Unless he goes nuts in the spring, I can't see him being able to stick on the 25 man.
