I said I would lighten up on Dusty this season after we won it. But then the season started and he reminded how dumb he is with shite like today's lineup.

Big time pet peeve for a long time. Texans are equally bad about it. The typical excuses are “players like it closed” and “the noise helps the home team.” Were either of these reasons not known when they decided to put retractable roofs on the stadiums? Only criteria should be fan comfort. Otherwise it was a colossal waste of money to build them like this.

Do y’all have the AC on in your house when it’s 84 outside?

we have the ac on in our house when it’s 74!

Trust me, I don’t like to be hot at games. I see your point but not exactly the same. A closed off insulated house isn’t just like an open air stadium. And sure, if it was going to be 84 and sunny for the entirety of the game, absolutely close it. But it looks like 82 at game time slipping into the 70s by 7 and low 70s by 8.

I think during the Ranger series, the start temp one game was low 70s slipping into the 60s…and they still closed it.

Even still, I grew up going to games in the Dome so I have no issue with a fixed roof. It just never made sense to me why they went retractable.

On the opposite side, remember when NRG first opened and they kept the roof open in September because they felt it gave the Texans an advantage? People were dropping like flies!

The problem is Minute Maid is still kind of enclosed and gets pretty stuffy even with the roof open when it’s warm. And there’s a portion of people in the sun as well. I’m all for it being open on a day like yesterday or that Rangers series, but there’s a huge difference for me and most people at 65-70 vs 75-85. I’m fine in the low 80s in the sun but I’d certainly opt for the climate controlled option if it’s there (and it is). Just my opinion

The Texans have a lot more opportunities to keep it open because of where the season falls and they don’t which is idiotic, but it’s the Texans. I’m not sure why they put a roof on NRG at all, and Minute Maid probably doesn’t need one. It’s nice on the rare occasions in April and October when they do open it though

Agreed

The poor folks on the lower first base line certainly get battered.

I will say I went to an April weekday afternoon game several years ago and they left it open. Think it was upper 60s. Glorious.

The other problem (more so with football) I think they have is the flip side. I love a game in the high 50s low 60s, but most people in Houston start breaking out parkas and wrapping pipes when it hits 65. eta…you beat me to it re football.

Dusty on why Diaz isn't getting more playing time

Because Tommy Lasorda used to bat Ron Cey fourth even when he wasn’t hitting because he hit a lot of home runs even when he wasn’t hitting a lot of home runs.

Or something stupid and indefensible like that.

So they won’t, but I’d love for them to ask Schwarber why he bunted with two strikes and two outs in the eighth inning of Game 6 of the World Series.
