I know we have some diehard Astros fans here who have tunnel vision regarding this scandal, but obviously Dan Patrick is right about this. I mean, Altuve and Bregman looked like programmed robots reading their pre-approved and rehearsed "apologies," and then they were immediately removed from the press conference to shield them from taking questions. The owner had the audacity to say that stealing signals didn't impact games, but then reversed himself when confronted about that idiotic statement.

Oh, and the whole question about using buzzers in 2019? Simply saying that "Major League baseball didn't find anything to corroborate that" is a really, really bad answer.

Just for the record, I'm a FORMER Houston Astros fan.

6-minute video.

Why is that a bad answer?

Why force apologies onto people that aren't wanting to be apologetic?

So brave.

There's nothing they could have said to satisfy those who want blood. Nothing, and they knew it. I don't blame them for being short and not bearing their souls when they know they're just going to get shite on afterwards.

Crane is a moron, but that's not on the players.

I'll explain this...because it is essentially saying you plead the fifth. It comes off as guilty as hell. If they didn't do it, then they would be 100% certain there is no evidence to back the claim up. By not saying it didn't happen, if evidence surfaces to show it did happen they don't come off as liars. Just cheaters again.

Apologies like this are pointless. Nobody believes you are genuine. Just say you broke the rules, you understand their are consequences for that, and move on.

It is an even worse look for them
You asked why it was a bad answer. This isn't an accusation on the team, it is on 2 specific players. If I am one of those players I would want my name cleared of that if it really did not happen.
Being singled out could have longer issues as then just being part of the team that cheated. There is still some plausible deniability when it's the entire team and not singled out players. Future contracts and sponsorships could be effected

I'll ask again, what should the answer to the buzzer question have been?

It makes me laugh that Bregman has never not cheated since he came up to the bigs, lmao.

Seriously? Obviously, the Astros know what they did. They don't need to refer to the sham of an investigation conducted by MLB (the same MLB that hasn't handed down even a 1-game suspension to any player who was involved in this).

They should have answered, "We did not wear buzzers, and that is a crazy allegation"
Good?

Didn't the Astros lead the league in hitting into those last year?

Nope cause y'all would just be on here calling them liars. They said the appropriate response. Y'all just want blood.

Seriously, are you trolling? If they did use buzzers, it proves that they were still cheating TWO SEASONS AFTER 2017.

Come on, now. You're embarrassing yourself.

Who is y'all?

I am simply saying the obvious. By giving half arse bullshite responses it looks way worse in the public, and whether people here want to admit it public opinion matter a whole lot. There is a lot of money to be made from endorsements and sponsorships. If you are no longer marketable because the public views you and a lying, cheating piece of crap, you aren't getting deals. Which means you are losing out on a huge potential income. Especially if you are Altuve and Bregman that are being singled out by the buzzer accusations.
