i have never really tried to understand the cap, but what will this do to the Redskins who are obviously going to have to pay a ton for RGIII

No shite. And the league had to approve those deals for them go through in the first place. This isn't over yet.

Cap hit isn't as bad with rookies anymore. But we were going to go ham in free agency. Shore up the oline and wr spots.

Pretty clear Redskins went hard after RGIII cause they know they wouldn't have cap space for vet free agent

Well that and because they had a good idea they weren't getting Peyton Manning. After that, they're stuck with a #6 pick where they may not get a dynamic player (arguable) and forced to rely on Rex Grossman/John Beck/Ryan Tannehill or spend big money on Matt Flynn.

Considering some Redskins boards say they have almost 40 mil in cap space, taking 18 million (half of what they are supposed to lose) away would still give them plenty to use this year.

If i'm washington starting a rookie qb, i try to use all of that 36 mill in penalties this year as i can. Start to rebuild next year.

What about all the teams backloading contracts; expecting a huge expansion of the salary cap when the new tv deal gets written in a few years?

I can't imagine there won't be a legal challenge or some sort of arbitration involving this matter. I really don't think it's fair or equitable to punish a team for using the rules in effect even if the league office issued a directive to not take advantage of the rules.

Edit: I wasted my 1,000th post on this?

If you mean Laron Landry, he's gone. Jets seem to be the front-runners. Landry was gone after he refused to have surgery on his Achilles.

Landry will be out of the league in a couple years.

Dan and Jerry are the 1 percent.

Probably but if he keeps getting bigger, Magnus Samuelsson better start watching his back on the world's strongest man circuit.
