Does anyone remember watching that game? It was the first live statewide broadcast of high school football in LA. Evangel was #1 in the country with Brock Berlin. Catholic gave them a game for about 3 quarters.

I was there. I was most impressed by evangel's center. Berlin lined up about 15 yards behind center and he just rifled it back there one handed.

No, it wasn't. Glen Oaks was in the 4A semifinal and because of the way scheduling worked, they got first rights to Memorial. Glen Oaks chose Memorial and CHS got Olympia.

It has to have been the largest crowd ever at Olympia. People were three to four deep standing in the endzones

And it was the first live statewide broadcast of a HS football game. There had been other statewide broadcasts but they were delayed.

Teams play for the first time since 1999 5A semifinals when Evangel scored the final 17 points to take a 39-22 victory.

I definitely remember that game. I was going to Catholic at that time and was at that game. Brock Berlin was a beast.

They were tape delayed.

CHS/Evangel in 1999 was the first Live, State-wide telecast.
