Are you serious?

I would legit take Lebron at 38 over Harden at any year, why I’m even having to say that hurts my head

Could Chris Paul not have chosen to go to Cleveland this past off-season?

guys daryl said he wanted to bring his free agents back at his press conference today. Sorry to rain on steiny’s speculation. This WAS steiny personal newsletter however. So it’s not him reporting on this but merely him giving his opinion. Which is wrong. In this case.

You're gonna need a lot longer time period than 2 years if this question is actually supposed to be debatable.

No because he was under contract and Cleveland had no pieces worth a crap to trade. He didn’t sign with Houston and has been eligible to sign an extension since December and hasn’t

Houston takes GS in 6 if not for the CP3 injury.

If James joins Houston, he will win every finals from now until he retires.

Not exactly. He did say he wanted to bring his free agents back. But this exchange also happened:

Reporter 1: "You mentioned that you'd like to bring your free agents back... what happens if a high level free agent becomes available and expresses interest in joining the team?"

Morey: "Yeah, my job is to look at everything, and we'll explore that. We've got our key people in coach D'Antoni, Tillman, James, and Chris, and that group will all have to be united in going after certain guys."

Reporter 2: "To follow up on the previous question... if there is that kind of free agent available that he was describing, *[everybody laughs as everyone knows he's talking about LeBron]*, that would not match with your previous comments about wanting to bring everybody back. If you were to have to create the kind of the room for someone who would command a max contract, is that something you've already decided to rule out given what you said about bringing your guys back?"

Morey: "I think they match... so... that should tell you something."

Reporter 2: "Can you do that? With the math... Wouldn't you have to renounce your rights to create the room...

Morey: "We have new math."

So from that exchange, it's clear that Morey thinks he can go after a high level free agent, and still bring his guys back.

it’s a fluent situation. They may decide to keep Clint by using the threat of Deandre coming as a way to keep the price down. CC is gonna win 65 again next year do not fret.

He was a free agent and chose to opt in to his contract on the condition he was traded to Houston. The same could have been done with Cleveland.

Because it was abundantly clear they can beat the Warriors, assuming no bogus injuries.

The only thing we have to look forward to in the NBA finals for the near future is perhaps witnessing the greatest miracle ever if an Eastern team beats a team with 4 all stars on their starting 5, with the 5th being incredibly damn good as well.

The Warriors have made the NBA finals boring, and Houston combats that.

That key word ‘united’ disqualifies bron.

Can someone feasibly lay out a way Houston gets LeBron without trading Harden or CP3?

They don’t have the cap space to get him unless CP3 takes a major pay cut and/or they find a sucker to take Ryno.

They don’t really have the salaries for a trade because so much is tied up in Harden and Ryno, with CP3’s cap hold being substantial as well.

Ryno’s contract, with 2 years 40m+ remaining on it is so godawful that there won’t be many takers without a considerable sweetener. A stretch release still means about $8m in dead space the next 5 years, only netting them $12m in actual room and perhaps not even that unless they renounce holds on most of their non-CP3 players.

They will be operating over the cap. LeBron will have to opt into his contract and a trade would have to be made to get him to Houston. It happens all the time... that's how Houston got CP3.

Teams can re-sign their own players over the cap. That isn't an issue. So Capela and CP3 can be re-signed.

Sending out Ryan Anderson, Nene, Zhou Qi, and Nanu Onuaku is enough to get the trade done and still keep Gordon, Tucker, Capela, Paul, Ariza, etc.

If they can't find a buyer for Anderson, the Rockets can still trade Gordon, Tucker, and scrubs and can re-sign Ariza.

I wonder if cp3 realizes he would be gone if Lebron went to Houston.

That's not true. See two posts above.
