James literally had no jumpshot when he entered the league

LeBron is one of the greats, if not the greatest. I'm not sure why people think that's unreasonable.

Because people think MJ's the embodiment of a perfect basketball player and that no one will EVER replicate or surpass that no matter who emerges, whether it be Kobe, LeBron, Kawhi or whoever it's a really nonsensical and stubborn way to perceive things TBH

Jordan never lost with the best team. Jordan never disappeared in the finals. Jordan never ran when the going got tough. Lebron vs the Mavs was one of the most embarrassing things that I have ever seen.

Not sure what your angle/point is here bro, we're talking about talent and playing the game of basketball at least I assume that's the subject matter of this conversation/argument not the nuances/events of the professional game

Could make the same argument about Larry Bird and Isiah Thomas, even when their teams lost in Finals they still showed out remember game 6 of the 1988 Finals when Zeke scored 25 in the 3rd quarter on a broken ankle?

Yeah times were really tough:

- One of the best cities in the country to call home
- One of the best coaches of all time
- Hall of famer Scottie Pippen at his side
- Best rebounder in the league
- Best Euro in the league
- Solid role players
- Won his last 3 titles during a time when two expanion teams has just entered the league and watered it down

But yeah, he had it SOOOOOO tough. Get the hell out of here with that bull shite

Even in spite of all that, you can't look at LeBron James and his body of work and argue he's not one of the 3 greatest players to ever play the sport of basketball if not the very greatest, like it would be disingenuous FASHO

Incorrect. The decision has already been made. I was just recapping for folks.

You swap MJ for James on those Cleveland teams they aren't doing any better in the Finals. You know this.

Yeah no one wants to live in Miami

One of the best coaches of all time

Well lebron ahnd picks his coaches so he can’t really cry about that can he? Also who was Phil Jackson before MJ?

quote:

Hall of famer Scottie Pippen at his side

Must be really hard facing down teams with Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Ray Allen, Kylie Irving, and Kevin Love. Those scrubs aren’t going anywhere.

quote:

Best rebounder in the league

Only for the second 3peat. He had to play against him for the first one.

quote:

Best Euro in the league

Ok... we have more better euros now.

quote:

Solid role players

Ray Allen, Chris Anderson, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Norris Cole, Mario Chalmers and Rishard Lewis were pretty fricking Solid

So we’re

Barajas, Smith, Thompson, Frye, Dellavadova, Jefferson and Shumpert

Lebron’s most Impressive Run was 2007 when he actually carried a bunch of bums. He hasn’t had a bad team since the decision. Don’t act like he doesn’t have at least 1 other future HOF caliber player and 1 other perineal all star on his team at all times, and a bevy of veteran role players.

What qualifies as a genetic freak? If you mean height, you would be surprised at the data.

?

Now you may be able to make the case for generally more athletic guys now, though I don't know how that can be easily quantified, it does seem so based on the dreaded eye test.

The real case to be made is that there were fewer teams so the playoffs were shorter therefore less grueling. The flip side of that argument is the player talent was more concentrated on fewer teams.

In reality, comparing player who are/were contemporaries is very difficult, much less from different eras. Championships as a benchmark for individual players in a team sport is silly.

You can't apply that argument to every situation. Again, you aren't an idiot and you know that you can't.

However, in this instance, you will act like you can apply it just to ensure that your point wins.
Thats my entire point You just admitted you like to move the goal posts

You like to count age when it helps you and years in the league when it helps you. I mean I can't beleive you actually admitted it

For a man-child, LeBron was a collosal let-down compared to those that came before him. He was not what was promised. Chosen One? Chosen to lose all the time in the playoffs?

This post can’t be real. Chosen to lose all the time in the playoffs......been to like 7 straight finals lol

Disingenuous, he obviously wasn't all of fame caliber when he played with LeBron.

Lebron played with 2 HOF players for 4 years in Miami, and one for 3 years in Cleveland.

Wait, what?

Pretty sure Lebron's long range 2pt% is better than Kobe's in his career, or certainly close to it.

There was a 3-4 year stretch where I believe Dirk was the only person with a higher FG% on long 2s than Lebron. Just a quick check, in 2012-2013, Lebron shot 44.4% from 16 ft to the 3 point line.

Saying Lebron never had a midrange jumper is just 100% wrong.

Right, and he's won 3 titles in 7 seasons since then, so...
