All useless franchises doing nothing but diluting talent and wasting time.

Go back to two divisions of six in each league

this thread is beyond stupid

do you have any idea the financial and legal implications of what you are proposing?
according to Forbes: LINK

A's worth $1.8billion - just entered into a long term contract with the city of Las Vegas to occupy a brand new stadium

Pirates worth $1.35 billion

Diamondbacks worth $1.65 billion

Marlins worth $1.05 billion

Guardians worth $1.4 billion

Rangers worth $2.45 billion - just built a new stadium and just won the WS

you say contract them but who is going to pay the owners for their asset and who is going to pay to break all of the contracts associated with the teams?

Many of us are old enough to remember the folding of at least 4 franchises-- the Utah Stars, Kentucky Colonels, Virginia Spirits, and St. Louis Squires-- and the relocations of a dozen more.

The entire league folded.

Sure back before these franchises were worth billions of dollars and when players had to work second jobs after their playing careers were over. These leagues will all go over 40 teams before ever considering dropping a single team. All we'll ever see is teams relocating at this point.

Marlins have more world series titles than pretty much everybody since their inaugural season.

The Marlins represented everything that was wrong with baseball imo. In their first 11 seasons they had only 2 winning seasons, did not win a division title but won 2 World Series with teams of mercenaries that they basically disbanded the year after winning. They also tore down an historic stadium and built a monstrosity that apparently no one goes to

Contraction is not needed.

MLB and NBA need to shorten seasons by 40 games (MLB) and 20 games (NBA).

I still think back to that and how wild it was actually on the table at the time. I can’t fathom how Selig/the other owners actually got the point where they were seriously considering it

It was wild to me that the Twins were the primary #2 candidate (after the Expos) only a decade after they won their second World Series.

Not really; half the league merged-- where you get the Nets, Spurs, Pacers, and Nuggets from today-- they are the old ABA, still in operation.
