The Braves don't care about the ITP'ers that take MARTA to 5 games a year (heard that MARTA riders represented 6% of attendance).
The Itp had its chance with the braves and the ride is almost over.
I only used marta and the awkward wagon from the underground because i'm an out of towner.

Pro: It's out of the ghetto
Con: That part of Cobb is already a traffic nightmare and there is very little they can do to alleviate it even now, add in Braves baseball without any kind of MARTA support and it'll be a mindfrick. My guess is on an average mid week game day you're looking at 4 hours in your car if you live in metro Atlanta.
I grew up just east of Atlanta and my family and I would alternate between using MARTA and driving to Turner, it was always pretty easy but sometimes sketchy due to Turner's location, never had any problems though. Not sure how I feel about the move, wasn't planning on going home for any games anytime soon but come 2017 I definitely won't be going if they don't fix the traffic issue.
On the business side it's probably smart, easier to reach their fan base.

Getting it out of the slums and in to the suburbs. Will be easier for a lot of fans to than the hell that is downtown. This still seems a little bit odd but it kind of makes sense.
turner field isn't in the slums.
i can jump on MARTA or drive easily from most of the nicest in-town neighborhoods and be there in no time, and I have never had an incident. i will not be traveling to cobb to see the braves.

My main hope for this is that it marks a concerted shift in funding for the team. If they are talking about a 365 entertainment center that is owned by the team ( which it seems they are) this will be huge for revenue. Now if we can break our tv contract there is no reason we can't be up there with the big boys in terms of allure to players and payroll

Maybe not the "slums" but definitely in the rougher "have not" area of Atlanta. Much more crime than Cobb.

If i'm in Cobb Co., I'd wait to know my share of the price tag before I started jumping for joy...

This is what makes me apprehensive about flat out saying the attendance will be changed for good... if after a few years they're still letting franchise players like Brian McCann go, then I don't think you'll see attendance remain high, and will probably go back to TF like numbers.

Good people is tearing it up next to regions field here in birmingham. It's too easy, good beer and baseball? Oh no thanks...

Yes, great gameday atmosphere is Bham now. Love going to the brewery before/after a game. Breweries next to baseball stadiums just work. I loved it at Coors Field when I went.

How many games do you go to a year, and do you have season tickets?
Just curious, I see this strictly as a business decision and a good one. And if you use the exit past the 285-75 merge, then the traffic isn't as bad because you can speed through the merge line. You still stop and go through most parts, but that's probably an extra 10 minutes off.
I don't think the traffic is good by any means. I just think the people spending the money see it as way better than south Atlanta.

Interesting that the ones chiming in are those in the northwestern sticks.
The Alpharetta folks will try it once and find out that an hour minimum isn't worth it. People are also not going to drive across 285 during the week.

Living in Gwinnett and watching the Gwinnett Braves saga unfold, you can believe that the Braves are getting a sweet deal. However, Cobb should do ok as the Braves are a major attraction for the Southeast and that will help even every thing out, unlike the shite deal folks in Gwinnett got for a AAA team.

Reading through your sarcasm: agree completely. More of their local fan base is up there, not in south Atlanta.

What all hotels are nearby this new location? Turner currently has what, the Holiday Inn?
