Maybe it's a Veteran's Day Joke

Reading twitter about this is pretty entertaining right now. Lots of pissed off ITPers. Numerous white flight references.

Maybe.
I can't ever see going there on a week night.
Weekends maybe.

The Smyrna Braves brought to you by Cobb County-Atlanta
Is my guess for the new name

What is keeping you from going to the future stadium that you are getting at Turner Field?
eta you seem very anti-future stadium and I am trying to figure out why

Marietta Rebels, they can just use the old Colonel Reb as the mascot. He can zipline into the stadium before games from the top of Kennesaw Mtn. It will be awesome.

I can get to Turner Field faster than I could get to Cumberland.

The one we have is very very nice.
Only 17 years old.
I don't see this increasing attendance.
BUT, as long as it costs me nothing, then they can do whatever they want from my perspective.
Haven't heard how they will pay for it. Or who.
And I am not anti new stadium across the board. I think the GA Dome sucks, and I am for a new football venue.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing that the location of the new stadium is in one of the worst traffic areas of Atlanta.
I'm not really worried about that. If it gets dense enough people will walk, won't they?

then you are insane
You have NO IDEA how many Cobb County suburbs would attend games all the time if they were closer
You have KSU, Kennesaw, Marietta, Smyrna, Acworth, Austell, etc etc

Those suburbs are going to replace, the city of Atlanta, Dekalb, Henry, Gwinnett?
North Fulton is a wash.
It will increase attendance until people find out you cannot get there from anywhere other than those few towns you mention.
Austell and Acworth.

closer to Alpharetta, closer to Roswell, Duluth and Norcross can just get on 285
this is much, much better than the current location
ETA the further you get from the shitty South Atlanta areas, the more likely you will get people attending

Acworth.
I live here, and I can 100% say I would be attending a lot more games.

Same w my parents...they never go because they're up in Kennesaw/Acworth and they already said they'll go way more now
Posted on 11/11/13 at 2:45 pm to beaver
yea, it basically cuts the distance in half for those people

This is all really simple.
- Season ticket holders don't ride MARTA.
- Season ticket holders don't want to sit in traffic to take their families to south Atlanta.
- Even with similar traffic, at least Cobb is 100x nicer than the current location.
- Season ticket holders live in north Atlanta.
- Cobb County had space and money to provide the Braves.
- The Braves don't care about the ITP'ers that take MARTA to 5 games a year (heard that MARTA riders represented 6% of attendance).
As a disclaimer, I'm a MARTA rider that goes to 5 games a year. My feelings aren't hurt because I don't spend $1k a year.

My aunt/uncle as well as cousin/his wife and their kids are already jumping for joy. They live in Kennesaw.

The area of the stadium is much better, it will be easier to get to for a large segment of fans, out of town fans will have access to a larger variety of hotels to stay at that are already near the stadium and a few more will probably be built. Traffic wise this may be a bit worse for people coming from the Roswell, Gwinnett, Dekalb. While there was no MARTA station near Turner Field, there was the MARTA train the transfer to bus option for some people.

I can't wait to see the early design proposals.
