So fricking weird. Need someone with some sense, that actually cares about the game and the traditions that make it what it is, to step in and fix this shite.

Sadly none of those people are making decisions that matter. All about money

It's absurd that two teams from the Big12 would get invites.

Since Nick Saban started his head coaching career in 1995, 25 teams have had undefeated seasons and only one of those was Nick Saban’s. That’s the same number of undefeated seasons as Gene Chizik, Larry Coker and even Robert Pruitt had and those aren’t names you’d think would be in the same area of Saban in any category.

The process of ESPN and the media always helped him...benefit of the doubt, do-overs, etc.

There was something going on that we'll never hear about. But the powers that be had an agenda.

You have posters here that would never believe this, despite it being a fact.

CFB died a slow, painful death that started over a decade ago. I don't care how many of you call me a pussy for pointing it out.

It died because the media and their greed for money killed it. Sad part is, the sport would likely be more popular and more profitable than ever without the blatant favoritism.

Just go full fricking nfl then. Big 10 and SEC break off into 8 divisions.

Does that solve the problem at all? Or are you just saying go to an 8 team playoff?

You guys who don’t Iike the expanded playoffs simply don’t have to watch. You’ll be replaced 3 fold by new fans who are attracted to a sport no longer rigged. College football has been pro wrestling for decades with their “mythical” champs and now invited BS playoffs. It will expand well past 14 within years because people with common sense understand losses are not the end of the world. Going 9-3 and finishing strong will finally have the same chance as a team who goes 12-0 and ducked tough games. The beauty pageant days will soon be over.

I understand fans of the top teams under the old system not liking it because you know the path is gonna be much harder now. In 30 years none of these past decades will be considered legit because they weren’t legit championships.

The 12-team playoff will have effectively destroyed the big, traditional rivalry games. If Ohio State is ranked #1 or #2 going in to the last game against Michigan, they know they're not going to drop out of the top 12 or 14 even with a loss. No coach is going to risk getting a CJ Stroud or MH, Jr hurt before the playoffs. Bryce Young would be benched for the Iron Bowl. And, once again, it's the fans who are the losers. Rivalry week will have all the charm of Week 18 in the NFL.

The corporate bigwigs at the TV networks are all big-city Northeasterners. They neither understand nor like college football. They still think of the sport as a game for rednecks in the South and Midwest. All they know is the NFL. That's why they've spent the last 30 years or so trying to transform college football into the pros.

One model under “serious consideration,” sources told Action Network, is a 14-team playoff that would grant automatic bids to: - the SEC’s conference champ and next two highest-ranked teams - the Big Ten’s conference champ and next two highest-ranked teams - the ACC’s conference champ and next highest-ranked team - the Big 12’s conference champ and next highest-ranked team - the Group of 5’s highest-ranked conference champion The remaining three bids would go the highest-ranked teams still available, regardless of whether they’re in a conference and/or independent Notre Dame.

I read this and can’t help but think it’s all an effort to keep the playoff from being just SEC and BIG

Division II sends 32 teams or something similar to the playoffs and that actually helps the sport.

A 14 team playoff will help college football and like the NFL create more interest as the seasons winds down. November in CFB will be even more interesting.

So, what’s more important 1) Mich-OSU in November with regional interest or 2) Mich-OSU in January with national interest and the winner of the game actually matters.

You guys talking about the sport being ruined have warped views. All those “rivalry” games you hold so near and dear haven’t meant much outside of those fanbases. The real rivalry games that matter will now be playoff games because the results matter.

It will be fun to look back in 30 years and see how the National Champion is a much more varied group than what we’ve seen lately when teams didn’t have to prove it on the field. People will laugh at all these claimed Natties when you had to win a whopping 2 games to claim it. It’s all been a joke but with every iteration of expansion it becomes more legit. Look at UGA this year. Ranked #1 all year and undefeated because they played no one all season and the first team they play with a pulse beats them. And then the committee once again gives Bama a free pass and they promptly get stomped by a northern school. For the first time ever a team will actually have to play a series of tough games to win it and not just be awarded a title. I can hear the whining already when your star QB goes down in round 1. The excuses will be glorious to watch.

I'm not opposed to a 12 team playoff, I'm opposed to charity invites.

I told you slapdicks 6 was the max. This is embarrassing to the sport

It’s hard enough to find 4 teams worthy of winning a national championship every year. Now we will have 12 teams and possibly more. It’s the NFL but worse

Or it’ll be the same schools even more as they’ll get a couple of freebies a year but will be firing on all cylinders by Jan.

This is the real issue. TV execs run every sport now.
