College Football is trying to destroy itself and ruin the uniqueness of the sport...

Get a load of this shite from Brett McMurphy:

Beginning in 2026, there will be yet another new playoff format in college football. What that playoff looks like is still to be determined.
It might stay at 12 teams (doubtful). It could expand to 14 (probably) or maybe even 16 (not likely, but who knows?). Or, perhaps they’ll honor the late, great Mike Leach by implementing the 64-team playoff format that he favored.
One model under “serious consideration,” sources told Action Network, is a 14-team playoff that would grant automatic bids to:
- the SEC’s conference champ and next two highest-ranked teams
- the Big Ten’s conference champ and next two highest-ranked teams
- the ACC’s conference champ and next highest-ranked team
- the Big 12’s conference champ and next highest-ranked team
- the Group of 5’s highest-ranked conference champion
The remaining three bids would go the highest-ranked teams still available, regardless of whether they’re in a conference and/or independent Notre Dame.
However, this 14-team model isn’t so much a playoff as it is an invitational. And a bad one at that.

You are a few years too late on this take.
Also ironic coming from a fan of a program that CFB powers rig everything for.

This mentality has always troubled me, mainly because of how prevalent in the world of social media it is. It's a sure sign that parents have raised a generation of losers who believe when things don't go their way that there must be a grand conspiracy against them. For whatever reason people just can't accept that they may not be good enough.

At least for football it's time to blow it all up and start over with this conference alignment. It's not gonna work for those outside the SEC or Big Ten going forward.
Why do you think FSU is doing it's own thing to get out of ACC.

My favorite college team fielded the GOAT squad, and has won a few other titles besides that one.
It doesn't take a genius that follows CFB to see the powers that be tilt things toward a few programs, yours being one. This past season was another great example of that.
This isn't some "conspiracy" in my mind. If you watch the sport, it is just part of it. Some programs are more equal than others.

Why? You've already got the top 3 from the SEC and B1G, top 2 from ACC and Big 12 plus the highest G5 champion. Who else needs to be in.

This almost like a Champions League format. So fricking weird. Need someone with some sense, that actually cares about the game and the traditions that make it what it is, to step in and fix this shite.

I wouldn't worry to much. It's never, ever LSU's fault. But the rest of the country doesn't think like them.

Just relish in the fact that the college football world revolved around Saban and bama. Hell, if I were in your shoes, I would be laughing at all us plebs after every championship
You're the most spoiled fanbase in sports and you don't know it

I'd really just prefer if we had 4 power conferences, each having 2 divisions. Division champs play for the conference championship.
SEC champ plays the Big12 champ and the Big10 champ plays the ACC champ. Winners play for the championship.
Last place teams from each division play each other, loser gets relegated to Group of 4 conference, Group of 4 conference champ gets promoted to Power 4 conference.
Do the same with Group of 4 and whatever 4 conferences are under them.
Have a 4 team playoff for the group of 4 as well.
For the bowl games, top 6 teams from each major conference get to play. The conference gets to determine their ranking from 1-6. hell you could have a show just on revealing those rankings. each conference will have 2 games against each of the other 3 conferences. each victory is worth a certain number of points, with the higher ranked matchups being worth more than the lower ranked matchups. The conference with the most points wins money for the players of those 6 teams, as well as a larger share of the tv revenue for those bowl games.

Just start the playoffs in September and let everyone in.
Will make for a nice long time off for the Aggies and the like.

Oh, I do. Believe me I do. However, that still doesn't mean that I don't want what's best for college football. Remember when we were talking about how important and unique the regular season was back in 2011 prior to Alabama getting selected over Oklahoma State for the #2 slot in the BCS National Championship Game? I happened to agree with my LSU rivals back then and would have been perfectly fine with having been relegated to a lesser BCS bowl. When we were selected, however, you're damned right I wanted us to go out there and win it all. That's the nature of being a fan.
While the 12-team playoff will just as good as kill the college football regular season, this 14-team playoff that is currently under serious consideration will all but finish it off. Not only that, it will have destroyed everything that made FBS college football the most unique and exciting sport on the planet. In hindsight, Alabama making it in over Oklahoma State might have been one of the worst things to ever happen to the sport.

Having a 12 team playoff is going to be a HUGE win for college football fans. They may hate it at first. But after a few years they will find it's much more exciting to see your team still playing for something late in the season even if they lost a game or two early. It's will also be MUCH better than watching some meaningless game on Jan. 1 where an 8-4 SEC team is playing a 7-5 Big 10 team, both of whom are missing key players, in front of a 1/3rd full stadium with the only thing on the line being a t-shirt and goofy trophy.
However, it would be nice if we could see how a 12 team playoff looks for a few years before deciding to add more teams. The biggest reason the bowl games became more and more meaningless is because the TV networks kept adding more and more to the point where .500 and teams with losing records were qualifying for bowls. They diluted the standard for "success". Now, it seems these bozos want to start diluting the playoffs...before the first 12 team playoff has even occurred!

It's found a champion in every year since 1936.

The 2011 mulligan killed the importance of the regular season. After your team lost, at home, in what was called the "game of the century", ESPN IMMEDIATELY dropped the slogan "Every Game Counts" from the CFB lexicon.
The regular season has been meaningless for well over a decade now, depending on what narrative change is needed to benefit teams like Bama.

Only because college football let it.
Instead of treating it as a one-off, a fluke occurrence that just happened due to circumstance, college football decided to commit suicide.
