I just want to know when we’ll see the pretense of being a “student athlete” go away.

It's been done

Purely for tax purposes. Paying it as a "housing allowance" instead of salary makes it deductible.

Same here. I'm thinking of just letting my tickets go after this year.

By that logic, the world is over because everything is getting more expensive. Fast.

Are you going to STOP watching?
I'm not.
How about the next generation?
If they won't work, how are they going to afford tickets, transportation, or even home entertainment.
I've watched football and other sports for over sixty years.
My sons, in their fifties, watch occasionally.
One grandson, Jr at Alabama, goes to the games as a student.
My other son and grandchildren wouldn't know the difference between a TD and a touchback. And don't care.

I believe LSU was slow to start the NIL to begin with. Sounds like we will be slow to start on this as well. Although, the 2025 class is shaping up well so far.
Still think it would be in LSU’s best interest to follow what other successful sport programs are doing. Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and Ohio state all have excellent programs with top NIL so I’m okay with this. Especially if the players are on board and do well.

Tickets are already sky high to pay for all kinds of nonsense. College football is imploding. It’s no longer “college” football. It’s semi professional mercenaries in the big conferences. They know this and expanded the playoffs as a quick fix so fans can be focused more on that and not the BS money grab going on.

Don’t they sigh Scholarships and NIL deals?
1 year and they can leave. NILs have yet to prove to have effective clawbacks.

Ticket holders will complain but still buy their tickets. Until people stop paying all together this will continue

Does anyone not find it ironic that college football was using ringers and players were suiting up for more than 2 schools under assumed names about 5 minutes after the birth of the game?
