If Clemson were undefeated they would be ranked #2 maybe #1, but Wake Forest in the same conference is barely #16. Same goes with Ohio State and Oregon. Oregon beats Ohio State, both have one loss, but one is #5 and the other is #10 and both Michigan and Michigan St. both in the B1G are undefeated and behind Ohio State.

Well, duh. Espn has paid, what, hundreds of millions if not billions for TV rights for the BCS playoffs and needs to charge their advertisers accordingly which the revenue is a function of ratings. Do you really think they would leave this to chance and allow Wake Forest, Cincinnati, UGA, and Coastal Carolina - even if all with zero losses, to be the four teams??

Those innocent preseason polls are the key to this. Not unlike figure skating judges lining up their favorites and tamping down everyone else.

But Wake Forest started unranked. And who have they beaten to vault in the rankings? Not a single ranked team.

You used Clemson as an example. The year they jumped on the scene, in 2015, they didn’t jump in the rankings until beating at top ten Notre Dame. And Clemson started that season ranked #12. They weren’t top 5 until the last week of October.

Rankings aren’t as big of a conspiracy of some people want them to be. It generally works itself out. Regardless, they’re basically just for fun at this juncture. The real rankings come out in November.

Wake Forest best win is what, a 3-3 Florida St? They are probably ranked too high actually.

frick it, if Wake goes undefeated, put them in. The playoff should be power 5 winners and an at at large anyways.

I mean yeau, they obviously aren't as talented as other teams but they haven't choked yet either.

If Wake goes undefeated in the ACC, they’ll be in the playoff.

Rankings are literally meaningless right now. Getting torn up about them at this point is silly.

Exactly why I've never been into pre season polls. The rant melts almost every year about LSU or somebody else being too high when it does not matter, especially for the SEC

Rankings shouldn’t begin until week 5-6.

Who’s Coastal Carolina’s best win? Or Michigan State’s to be top 10?

If Rankings are based on best wins then who did No. 5 Ohio State beat to deserve their ranking?

I used to think that way, but fans would be making their own rankings if the AP and Coaches Poll didn’t exist…

I wish we would get a legitimate playoff system and do away with this ranking b.s., but that would require the NCAA to ditch tradition in favor of common sense.

BTW your thread should be "College football bias is real"

Sure there is bias but wake forest has got to earn it and they got a ways to go.

The CFP rankings don’t come out until November. Even those are meaningless until the end of the season. The AP and Coaches’ Polls don’t matter either.

Even if we did away with polls, someone…somewhere…would be ranking the teams. So it’s silly to get all bent out of shape over it.

I’m on the Wake train but Wake hasn’t played anyone yet. Two of their wins are Old Dominion, Norfolk State.

They’ll lose a close one in Clemson and probably knock off NC State. The Atlantic Division race is going to be interesting.

Bro, I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: everyone sucks in college football right now except for maybe two teams.
