He also went to UK radio right as they were signing off to tell their fans how great a game and how he respected their team in 92. I don't always like Duke or K, but this isnt something new for him.

I agree.
why does he feel he should do that? why is he involving himself in their celebration?
I'm sure the players on Mercer were offended that an all time great was congratulating them.

I think its cool. I also think it's him finding a way to gain praise. Everything that gerbil does is self serving.

See, this is what annoys me: The idea that the Mercer players were starstruck by coach K. These are big boys. D1 athletes. Not high school or even D2 or D3. Its insulting to the Mercer players to think they should be glad just to be graced by his presence.
I don't have a problem with what he did so much as the people saying "Well I'm sure they were just happy to see him".

Cool, feel free not to cheer for Team USA in the future since it's obviously just him being self-serving

Some people are just negative people
Always take something positive someone does and convinces themselves there is a negative motive behind it
The guy took like 45 seconds to go in and congratulate the team that beat him. Oh the horror!!!
Classy move by coach K, and I'm not a duke fan

Anybody who is a fan of college basketball, including it's players, would like to be able to see or talk to one of the greatest coaches in the sports history.
Some of you people think way too much about stuff like this. It was simple gesture by coach K, nothing more.
Even one of Mercers players said in the postgame "at the 10 second mark us players on the bench started looking at each other saying 'were about to be Duke!'

what other coach does this? no one. coach k thinks he should be a part of their celebration. it's kinda shitty, but y'all can keep sucking his dick
it's definitely happened before, he's probably one of the bigger names to do it though

I think its very pompous that he did that. Like Duke is so much better and the fact that little Mercer beat them deserves acknowledgement.
Did he go congratulate Virginia when the cavs beat Duke? What if Sumlin comes over to LSU locker room after we beat a&m next year?

Coach K is such a classy guy he really encourages his players to major in sociology and load up on the independent study classes in Sociology.

They already saw him all game, including at the end with his head in his hands. And they didn't get to talk to him, not really. It sounds like he said good game and then left, which is fine, but if that's the case then they didn't "get to talk to him".

You know what I meant. I'm sure all the players and coaches appreciated it
People are acting like he was just chilling in their locker room for 10 minutes and "joining their celebration". He might have been in the room an entire 60 seconds

Sad troll fail when there's a major academic institutional scandal down the road in chapel hill. You're a fricking idiot.

Ok I know I will get bashed by a lot of you but here goes. First of all I think Coach K is a good coach.....a great coach...NOT.....a good coach yes. Before you get your pannies in a wad listen up. I too and you would also get 20+ wins a year if you had the number of McDonald's High All Americans on your team that he has each and every year. In fact he should have way more National Championships than he has. Let's see how good he would be at say Texas Southern or Southern Miss or even Tulane with their present players. Now I don't mean to be disrespectful to those teams or their players but the caliber of players compared to all his McDonald All Americans don't even compare. Yes he is a good recruiter but come on now all you have to do is be a good "ORGANIZER" with that kind of talent. Wait a minute he could be the President of the United States....he is a good ORGANIZER.
OK let me have it.
