As I've said before, they get $200 a day plus of specialized training.

No they don't.

It would be like hiring a personal trainer for 2 hours every day.

No it's not.

They get plenty of "tutoring" as well not available to the rest of us. And scooters. UF players LOVE scooters.

Major college football is the one sector in this country that tells ppl “You need to wait 3 years to profit off of your ability”. Meanwhile they make their money annually and stripe kids of their ability to make a buck for the stupidest reasons (Ex. The UCF kicker that lost his schalorship for having a popular YouTube page).

Your avg college student can have a popular YouTube or Twitch stream. The school isn’t going to come knocking on their apt door saying they need to quit it.

Couldn’t buy all that with a share of the billions.

But Realistically peoppe wjo Blake the NCAA are off. The market is determined by the NFL not wanting 18 year olds.

There is no other professional league that can afford to pay enough to high school players.

The NFL sure doesn’t mind having 300 free minor league teams.

Tutoring is available to your avg student. People just tend to not take advantage of it or they seeking out private tutors.

Valid points. I'm not gonna argue the NCAA isn't full of pedantic dumbasses.

They get TONS of stuff your average joe student doesn't get though. I didn't get the tons of free gear, the educational resources, the food/board options, or the other perks that student athletes get.

Multiply this fly the 400 plus other full scholarship athletes they have on campus. The compensation is more than fair.

The NCAA also limits the amount of earnings a student athlete can make per year as well. So star players can’t pull a Rhet Bomar and sell cars and make $65k by just showing up and have their name attached to a bill of sale.

Exactly. The NCAA does plenty of things wrong, but they don't make that rule, they just profit from it.

Not the kind of "tutoring" I'm referring to...

Explain how they dont? They get the most advanced sports training available. Those S&C departments have machines worth more than most of those kids will ever make in a year. They can go to the trainers any time they want and train, get treatmemt etc. Daily for 4-5 years. I ask you how much is that worth if you were paying for it?
Tua for instance, got a surgery that is unavailable to the general public, or anyone not associated with Alabama,(which in my eyes should be a violation) and then slept in a hyperbaric chamber to heal. How many joe blows are getting that?

I think You do have to look at the fact that they get maximum quality training for a potentially lucrative career in a monopoly as a benefit.

But let’s not act like the scale is tipped in the athletes favor when it comes to the NCAA/CFB.

Alright, let’s just say the NFL did like other leagues and had a legit minor league for players to immediately join if they felt they were good enough. Congrats, you’re a working adult who can do and profit from whatever you want.

Do you know what it’s LIKE to be in the minors? It fricking blows, dude. You live on a bus and in hotel rooms for years trying to get good enough to make it to the big leagues (which most don’t, FYI), all while getting paid peanuts and playing in front of 1/4 full stadiums.

There are no groupies wanting to jump you, no nice dining halls, no raucous fans, no real camaraderie on a team striving for the prestige of a championship, and certainly no one lining up to buy that likeness you are now oh so free to profit from. It’s pretty much just you and a bunch of random strangers who’ve been slung together to perfect your craft.

Now compare all of that plus an education with what colleges offer and it’s no wonder plenty of people still go to college before going pro in those sports.

It would be even more egregious in football, actually, as the ramp-up from high school to the pro’s as far as athleticism and body development is much more steep than in other lower contact sports like basketball or baseball. No one is getting called up early in a football minor league. You’d still HAVE to put in at least 2-3 years of development before you’d be ready for the league.

So yeah, carry this shite elsewhere. I fully believe the NCAA will just straight up tell the NFL to make their own minor league before opening the can of worms that is paying players. They have ZERO incentive to do it. They have nothing to gain. The fan bases are already there. People aren’t going to stop watching college football just because the top 30-50 players forego college for the pro’s.

I have zero problem with football players being paid like work study students but they better damn well pay participants of all sports

Way to cock up the thread. You're right about ignorance is bliss. You're demonstrating that quite well.

I’d be willing to bet that Clemson came out ahead in this situation.

Should the ceo of Exxon make less than the driller? The driller is performing hard manual labor in a health threatening condition. I’m sure you’re answer is no. Where else is Clemson’s third string lineman going to make 60k/year, go to the whitehouse and get an opportunity at 6 figure income shortly afterwards all to play the game of football?

The truth is 99.9999% of NCAA athletes come out way ahead on the "did the get what they deserved" scale.

But of course, we bitch and moan about the .0001%

I'd say the correct analogy is a business in which there is a single owner. You won't be making money if your employees are making more money than the value they are creating for your company. Of course, the situation is muddied a bit because the players are the employees and the product. So, it's not a perfect analogy.
