He routinely comes back from breaks playing The Carpenters and slow Billy Joel songs.... And it's not a joke or ironic...

He butchers the names of well known athletes all the time... Called Garoppolo "GaraFALLO" the whole season...

I once heard an entire show where he talked about the 1939 Oscars and how great "Goodbye Mr Chips" was...

Don't ever change Christopher Mad Dog Russo....

I never got the whole Springsteen thing until I lived on the Jersey Shore for a year... He's like a religion up there for middle aged dudes... It's crazy

Russo is an interesting case. Even though he's not that old, he acts borderline senile at times. When he gets an opinion, anyone who disagrees is an idiot. His memory and historical knowledge of events is incredible, though, and seems to reach back to the '50's, even though he was born in '59. He knows a frickton about baseball, I could take him or leave him on other things. But, he is very much a throwback guy that just doesn't exist in many other sports media places right now. He comes across as an old uncle or grandpa talking about sports, which is why I sometimes listen.

He's got to be better than Jay Mohr... His show is horrible unless he's out that day.

If y'all aren't listening to Pardon My Take, then y'all don't know what real sports talk is

You had to move to Jersey to get the meaning of The River Album?

They don't have Unions and high school marriages where you are from?

I mean Springsteen has a huge following all around the globe. Born in the USA, Glory Days, My Hometown, The River, I'm on Fire, Dancing in the Dark, Cover Me, Tunnel of Love, Streets of Philadelphia, Badlands, Hungry Heart, Secret Desire, etc...

Born to fricking Run?

I mean, it's not like he's Lady Gaga or anyone says he is the best ever...but he's still huge for a reason and you don't need to live in Jersey.

But some on this site love to hate on him for no reason but for geography.

Music isn't about geography. East Coast, West Coast, South, North...Europe, Asia.

Springsteen isn't a "Jersey thing." He had the #1 album in the world with Born in the USA. And not everyone in the world is from Jersey.

Bruce is a VERY northeastern thing...no one I know in the south cares one way or another about him and probably can't name more than 3 songs of his. Born in the USA (which of course is actually a very anti American Vietnam song) and Born to Run are all most anybody I know have heard of, and that includes numerous people who were in their teens and 20s in Bruce's heyday of the 70s and 80s.

Ever looked at Bruce's tour...he doesn't visit the south very much...I would say he's far more popular in Europe than he is in the southeastern United States.

He's annoying. Way too much baseball talk, which I couldn't care less about.

I hate all things ESPN minus Russilo. One of the great things about that show is how little baseball they talk.

You can say Bruce is a NE phenomenon, which is true, but the baseball stuff is also. One of the few national shows that talks more baseball than other sports. Good for those fans, just not for me.

I am more of a Dan Patrick guy myself

Russo sounds like nails on a chalkboard and has tunnel vision with baseball all year long

I enjoy Russo when he's talking baseball. He's a walking baseball encyclopedia. He doesn't annoy me with his yelling. I can see how he can annoy people though.

I personally enjoy Russo. For many reasons.

His banter with Steve Torre is greatness. He needles him so well and it makes for good radio.

He loves baseball and is very knowledgeable historically. He is a life long Giants fan. The day after they won their first Series was radio gold. People called in for weeks congratulating Russo because his listeners knew he cared so much.

His interviews. If he has a good interview going, he will let them go for 30+ plus minutes. Makes for good radio as opposed to other networks that are bound to breaks based on time.

He is also very well read and sometimes will spends whole shows on particular books.

Lastly, the week or two before the Super Bowl when he plays super bowl trivia is a very good listen.

He lost me with his take on the Cubs this spring training.

Then today he was saying the Cubs offense isn't that good. (3rd most runs in baseball).

And that the 1993 Giants would have smoked the Cubs because of their offense(they scored the same exact amount of Runs as the Cubs did this year).

He cited guys like Royce Clayton & Darren Lewis as difference makers, both of whom were below average

I agree he knows a lot of useless facts. But when you say shite like he has about the Cubs this year, you lose a ton of credibility
