Grew up watching Berman do NFL highlights, home run derby, and the occasional Sportscenter
Never liked him. Thought his act was washed and annoying at best. He was always the show, never the highlights or the game he was covering. The off camera stuff makes him seem like an a-hole IRL too. All the love for him is pure nostalgia and not based on fact.
Good riddance.

He will never retire, the “fun with names” shtick was okay for awhile, but he is now another stereotypical caricature of a wannabe cool celebrity that has hung on wayyyyyyy too long.

Back when ESPN showed PKA full contact karate and sprint cars during primetime and SportsCenter was all they had his gimmick was cool. He used to host SportsCenter with Tom Mees and Bob Ley and when you had no reason to watch ESPN except for SportsCenter and if you really liked fast pitch softball he was good. But, the graduate of Brown University who got fat lost his charm two decades ago.
