I saw Chipper’s original tweet and it was obvious he was speaking about UG/A. They have acted like tools since Wes Johnson got there. And it’s hilarious that Tennessee fans got so butt hurt because 99% of the sport’s world knows they are over the line and they are the 1% that think it’s normal.
More people need to speak out about it. The guys covering college baseball are scared to speak out and use the tired excuse of “competitiveness and kids having fun”. More importantly, the coaches need to be called out for either allowing it, or in some cases encouraging it.

I'm sure they're all classy bastards. How dare you?

I used to gripe about some of Paul Maineri’s coaching decisions on this board, but I 100% was grateful for the way he led his team with class and demanded it from the players. They didn’t have scraggly beards, foo man chu mustaches and they wore their uniforms like a professional. When Beau Jordan flipped off the Texas pitcher he was suspended for the next game. I appreciate that about Coach Maineri.
When LSU was searching for a coach I thought I wanted Dan McConnell but then his pitcher acted a fool in Omaha (the “F You” to the batter after a strikeout only to blow the game the next inning) and I saw he defended the player and I didn’t want him anymore.

Bat flips I don't mind, some of these guys striking out a guy and mouthing off to the dugout in the 3rd inning are ridiculous. Hitting a nuke and talking shot as you round the bases jn the 1st etc... that shite is a problem and coaches defend it because they don't want to lose a player.

funny that im pretty sure Chipper just said there are teams in college baseball that act douchey and didnt name them. Then Tenner fans immediately knew it was them. Funny how that works.
And then he clarified he wasn’t even talking about Tennessee

If a team keeps their celebrations directed towards their own dugout and teammates I can live with that. The constant need to say something to the other team has long jumped the shark.
I watched the Tennessee shortstop run his mouth all weekend long at The Box. Most of the time when a player hits a home run the infielders walk toward the back of the dirt and get ready for the next batter. That punk from Tennessee would stand a few feet from the baseline and dare the LSU batters rounding second base to say something to them so that he could run his mouth more. When Jared Jones hit the walk off in game 1 the kid stopped from walking to the dugout and said something to Jones when he came around third base.
When Luis Hernandez hit two home runs on Monday, his celebrations may have been more that what would have been done in 1985, but it was all directed towards his team mates and he did not direct anything towards the Little Rock players. I think we are all good with that.

would think that one out ranks the other by a mile when it comes to class. How a player dresses and flips his bat is pretty tame in comparison.
Sure, sure. But we have people saying because he had an affair over 20 years ago, that he now has no basis to criticize baseball etiquette and sportsmanship.
Seems like apples and oranges to me.

Somehow he thought that was a good idea to post on Twitter, however, Vols fans asked if he can be a fan of people that don’t respect marriage by banging hooters waitresses while married
When you resort to deflecting and attacking the messenger it shows you can’t defend the thing being criticized.

Tennessee fans on twitter are in twitter replies not about them all the damn time. Most annoying fanbase online and it isn’t even close

He is right about Tennessee though. They are the absolute worst

I'm an old get off the lawn guys so I'm with Chipper, but Tennessee is even bad for their generation.

How do you conflate the two things? A lot of athletes have questionable off-field behaviors, but we are talking on-field antics. Quite a reach here.

The opposite is happening. Wake’s coach had to give a public apology after a Tennessee player was acting a complete jackass while on deck, then an even bigger jackass on his way around the bases after a home run. The Wake coach was caught on camera calling him a “phucking phaggot” to a coach or player on his own team and he is the villain.

It comes off as Caring more about the game than life seems a bit silly

The regrettable and selfish decisions people make in their weak/worst moments are not the same as things that people adopt as regular practice.
Chipper has very right to call out douchebag baseball teams. Nothing he could do in his private life would really change that.
