he's already on the way out. once you build a reputation it's very hard to shake it. the fact that we're talking about it means there's something there.

He can't take a step back, I think that's for sure. If the Eagles stagnate or worsen, his seat is going to be on fire. You better be right when you deal away a talent like McCoy.

I listened to the Steven A Smith stuff on the radio about this (Steven A seems to be the one giving this story so much push in the off season).

He did the typical (I'm not saying this, the players are saying this) stuff before making two points. 1) Some of the players think "he didn't talk to them man to man" or try to connect with him and 2) the issue of Riley Cooper, not very productive and still on the team.

I can only imagine how those players saying he doesn't treat them like men would have reacted to Bill Parcells or Marty Shottenheimer shitting on them daily in practice. Within the lockerroom I think replacing Vick with first Foles and now Glass Joe had some impact as well. Vick was the one saying Cooper deserved another chance and with him gone that support was done.

Kelly feels like he's going to either flame out or succeed at a very high level. If he's still got his job next year it would be funny to see him get rid of pretty much everyone he didn't like (just to make the point that it is his team).

FWIW I think he should get rid of Cooper cause he's just not very good more than the gets drunk and goes redneck at country music concerts.

Have we ever had another head coach been railed by ex players for these issues?

its only been like 5-10 years max that ESPN and the rest of the sports media would even air crap like this so its not like we have the entirety of coaching history to look at.

Riley got his Co tract after one half season of productive play and Eagles regret it now. Is he the first player to be rewarded for a nice stretch of play? (Neil O'Donnel) also the DB for Dallas that went to Oakland.

there is something that seems kinda weird about chip, IMO

i mean we all get that NFL coaches are glorified hermits who practically live in the facility during the year but it seems like that loner lifetsyle transcends football.

wouldnt surprise me if he is gay tbh (not that there's anything wrong with that)

They needa chill on Chip man. He is not a racist in anyway. He doesn't want players that disrupt his team. Plain and simple.

One of his black players at Oregon.

I don't think he's a racist at all and that one or two guys idiotic comments have smeared his image while one or two others are just piggybacking onto that stupidity. But hey, just my opinion. If Chip was a racist how could he even stand to be a football coach? This topic needs to die soon.
not saying it's race, I don't think it is.

But why are you blindly giving Chip the benefit of the doubt and assuming the players are idiots?

What do you guys think it is? I just heard sal palentino of ESPN say hes never seen a head coach, including the coaches from the past generations who wed think would have a harder time connecting with todays generation/culture, have such a disconnect and have so many ex players bash him with the same sentiments.

I think there is something there, and part of it stems from KEllys coaching style. These are grown men and have to be treated like so. You have to earn their respect, not the other way around. I see it as kinda paternalistic, and especially considering the african american perspective and history, I see how they could see shades of race issues in this.

31 downvotes?

White males, including myself, really like denying the existence of a social tool (racism) we have used for along time. 31 butt hurt reality deniers. Not saying this is the cause, but lets not act like its impossible for a white guy to potentially be racist to black people

Sorry, but working as a teller through college and then a banker, I was called a racist weekly. Why? Because I wouldn't cash a check without two pieces of ID and the big fat sign at the teller window clearly laid out the bank's policy.

The race card is real and probably the best answer in this scenario, especially when you consider that he is getting a bunch of new black players.

Use common sense.

These two statements seem to contradict each other.

Chip has black players, replaces them with black players and he is called a racist. I don't get it. And the players who are saying it is Desean Jackson, who is an idiot, Shady, who had a ton of respect for CK ad was posted in that grant land article, who all if the sudden now calls him a racist and Boykin, who didn't exactly call him a racist. And to top it off, it is being talked about by Screaming A which is now becoming a story. This is truly baffling.

as opposed to replacing corners and running backs with all these white corners and running the backs?

I don't think it's racist, but it's certainly something and I'd guess it's more the urban type culture he's struggling with.

Hell, Chip has admitted it himself that there's something and posters here are still in denial, that's pretty telling

Race doesn't really factor into it.

if race isnt a part of it then why is the narrative that chip kelly is racist and doesnt understand the black players?

You don't think it has anything to do with the Riley Cooper incident and how he handled it. Chip walked into a PR nightmare. I will say this though: it seems to follow him. His first game, Blount is the center of attention. He shows up to the Eagles and he has the Cooper incident.

Controversy follows that man for sure. However, he isn't a racist.

I'm sure that has something to do with it, but it's just a piece to the entire story

The $ should be the thing motivating these guys to play their best. The coach should be creating the best system on the field tactically to win.

I have a feeling he is just an objective boss man that takes complete control. If he has a vision then he acts on it. I don't think these guys get that he is their boss and that upsets them.
