How pissed is Colt McCoy now? He goes from thinking that he'll be the starter in Kelly's offense to, well, where he is now, backing up a near 30 year old 2nd year player that was pretty terrible this season.

Is he going to do this for the next five years until the Patriots come calling as an heir apparent to Bilicheck?

I bet he has some inside information on those.

Sanctions are still sanctions, though.

Even if it's as light as I saw you suggest, that's enough to set the program back a bit.

And that damages his rep (though that hasn't seem to hurt anyone yet).

Agreed. Slap on the wrist coming for Chip. Nike has spent a lot of money in NCAA

Bruce Feldman?@BFeldmanCBS

Chip Kelly returns to a program that is in even better shape talent-wise than it was last year & Oregon brand has kept growing

That, and Oregon is just the most cupable NCAA member out of many in the whole Lyles affair.

Yeah, I saw that.

I'm not sure I get the "better shape talent-wise" thing, especially with the current recruiting class lacking as it is.

Chip's a great coach and Oregon will be good, regardless. I like and root for Oregon.

I just don't think this decision makes a ton of sense for him.

eta: Unless he just really loves the college game more... but if he did, why keep interviewing with the pros?

All around the team will be better next year. I know the roster up and down.

As far as the current class, we are going to have a small class and that is what is holding it back. However, make no mistake that the quality of player is on par with any other class that we've recruited. The OG out of NJ hasn't been rated nor has the MLB out of JUCO. Even with them not rated Scout has Oregon as #13 on an average star rating. We should finish strong but none of us expect a large class with 65 scholarship freshmen and sophmores.

Chip Kelly said thanks to Les Miles for advice on how to make more money. Get a interview somewhere else and get more money to stay. All coaches should do this.

Makes sense. Would you leave Oregon to coach the Browns? Or the Bills? Crap teams in rust belt cold weather cities. He can win a BCS Championship at Oregon.

When is that going to be? He always loses a game and can't make it because his weak schedule. He's 0-1 in the BCS game and 0-2 against SEC powerhouses the past couple of years. He can put more Fiesta and Rose Bowls under his belt, but not BCS crystal balls.

A lot of hate in here. I don't see anyone else, other than Louisville I guess, beating up the SEC. The man has made 4 BCS games and only has 1 final step to take.

I have no idea what the NCAA will do but we will be NC contenders yet again next year. Can't wai for September...

They are in the pac12, USC is down, and aren't spoiled whiny bitches like LSU fans. They'll happily accept another 11-12 win BCS bowl season no matter what the coach may do again next year.

What I believe now is that Kelly, who makes $3.5 million in guaranteed salary and has the blessing of Nike-infused infrastructure, knows his current gig is the best amateur coaching job in America.

I now suspect he would only trade it for the dream gig of every little kid who grows up in New England -- head coach of the Patriots.

Agreed on all accounts. Canzano nails it for once. Chip turned down both the Eagles and Browns despite their offers.
