Both schools are also public, even though gt is a much better University. USC is private.
Either way, just being in LA, it'll be much easier to recruit better talent locally. You can be elite with having 75-90% of your recruits from within 100 miles.

UCLA just signed the #18 recruiting class in the nation, including the #36 overall player and #2 Dual QB, Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Thats a good amount of talent.

UCLA literally signed the #1 overall player in the 2017 class

That comment doesn't mean he is only going to sign 2 star athletes. He'll pull bigger recruits than he did at Oregon and they'll fit his scheme.

UCLA doesn't have to recruit other states incredibly hard like Oregon did.
There are enough home-grown Cali kids that would love to be stars in LA that will go play for Chip. He's going to absolutely kill it at UCLA.
And you've got to think he's learned some new stuff being in the NFL. Saban came back a much better coach. I bet he puts a bigger emphasis on defense and both lines now.
UCLA 2018 recruiting rank with Chip not getting a full year to recruit: 18th
Oregon 2009: 30th
Oregon 2010: 12th
Oregon 2011: 12th
Oregon 2012: 14th
He's going to get his undersized and crazy fast/quick athletes all over the field and he's going to do it easily in California. shite, he got the #2 overall Dual Threat QB out of Nevada and the #3 overall athlete (who is 6'5").
He's already got his guys.

Also, every time I think about Chip Kelly being hired by UCLA and how good of a hire that was, I think about Arizona State hiring Herm Edwards.
Talk about disparity between those hires. Holy shite.
Chip will beat Herm by 50 every year.

He ALWAYS put an emphasis on defense before, so that won't change.
Difference is he won't miss out on as many stud DL or LB at UCLA as he did at Oregon. Guys who chose Florida, USC, Texas, and Alabama etc.

Fair enough.
Yeah, after LSU whooped them he said the difference was our big athletes up front. He didn't have those at Oregon, but he'll get some at UCLA.

His way got Oregon to a title game and they lost on a fluke play. I think he'll be fine.

First defensive player he drafted was Bennie Logan

he will be in the conference championship and maybe the playoffs before LSU does with Orgeron

That Nike factor is real and allowed Chip and lot of cushion he will never get at UCLA
If the Nike factor was that big of a deal Oregon wouldn't be on their third HC since Chip left.

UCLA doesn’t spend near the money Oregon does on sports
