UCLA was always the "gutty little Bruins" - their brand was never that great in football even when Oregon was wandering in the Desert.
Then Oregon blew past UCLA 15 years ago.
Slick Rick and Mora weren't able to do anything with "that Brand."

That's true, but it's just not a football brand. Maybe it could be, but they are also in a city that, despite it's size, couldn't keep a NFL team. And the school isn't an "eat, sleep, drink football" school. USC is a football brand. Lots of football brands have trouble finding the right coach over periods of time.
Oregon is a football brand; a noveau brand that may not stick but it is one and was one.
One thing about Kelly is that he didn't build Oregon - he improved them. UCLA needs to be built.

Kelly's offense worked at Oregon because it was different and edgy and whatnot. That offensive style is a lot more common today.
He needs to mix it up, or he will be nothing more than a 7-5, 8-4 coach at UCLA.

Chip can always go to Kansas and rob them blind. Seems like Kansas has owed every coach in the country at one point or another.

Kelly was an OC at Oregon. He took over a stablished team. Give him some time.
