Kris Bryant porn.

.356/.461/.716.

Holy shite. I have this twitch. This eye twinge. And it's because I'm fighting every bit of meatball fan in me that says PROMOTE BRYANT TO MLB, SEND OLT TO AAA!

I really don't know. I'm hoping they have a plan for pitching prospects. Either they think they can sign Samardzija or deal him for some highly rated pitching prospects.

It is smart to go best player, but I think Schwarber was mostly considered underslot at #4.

I was a bit surprised, I thought Jackson would be the pick there since he was available, but what do I know?

According to reports, it was Aiken and Schwarber on the Cubs Big Board. So far, under this regime, their top picks have been Almora and Bryant, so I feel pretty good about their scouting evals. We'll just have to wait and see.

Wait and see...that's all us Cubs fans do.

Widely considered to be a surprise pick at #4, but also widely considered the best college bat in the entire draft. Either the Cubs think they can work him through the system quickly and possibly trade for pitching prospects soon to a team that needs a bat, or think they can use him in the OF and trade someone else. I would think they are going to trade him. Cubs seem to have the bats in the system (although you can never have too many bats, considering they are only in the MINOR leagues at this point).

I think they took him at 4 cause he would be cheaper, at least that is what i read. He has some pretty impressive numbers. And they wanted a LH in the system since it is right handed heavy.

let us try sign a lot of highschool pitchers we might otherwise not have had the money for. Seems like he can stand on his own merits too (certainly not a #4 pick though). Will be interesting to see if he can defesively handle the OF (catcher is a pipe dream by all accounts). So I liked it. And i expect i'll like it more when he signs super quick and for (hopefully) around 2.5 million

I really liked the draft strategy from the cubs this time. Underslot early with guys you know you're going to be able to sign quickly (hell isn't our 3rd rounder already signed?), go after high cealing guys later, overslot, and good mix of college and hs pitchers.

Day after Southern League allstar game. June 20. Or that's what i'd pick in my office "when does krush bryant dominate another level" pool.

Kris Bryant, y'all.

HR #22. Also, there's a link to Javy Baez's HR in there. I just get the feeling he'll leapfrog AAA.

3rd year in a row they've signed a high floor bat with their first pick (Almora, Bryant, now Schwarber).

Seems like they've been the only team investing in hitting with their top picks, while everyone else is going pitching.

Will it work? I sure hope so!

Schwarber signed for 3.125 million. Good value, good draft strategy...assuming we're able to sign the HS pitchers.

It saves about $1.5M to hopefully sign other players that slid.

Cubs 2014 first round pick Kyle Schwarber is hitting 7-11 with 2 HR and 8 RBI with a 1/1 K/BB thru is first 3 pro games at Boise.

Javy Baez hit a HR this weekend, too. Kris Bryant is still Kris Bryanting.
