I've never played baseball, so forgive me if this is obtuse:

How can a pro player not shift his stance to hit it opposite?
A bunt or something?

With a shift that crazy, you have to be able to just bunt something down the 3rd base line. I know they don't pay him to bunt, but this is outrageous.

I honestly have no clue. I don’t care if I was the second coming of Babe Ruth, I would absolutely bunt down the 3rd base line if teams disrespected me like this.

It seems absurd these guys won't take the easy hit the opponent is giving them. A QB is not going to not throw to the guys who's left uncovered. I know he's not on the team to get oppo singles. But why not take the easy hit and in the process remove the incentive of the shift?

The hitter should have never made it to the majors with such a glaring inability like that. I mean, the defense is saying you're incompetent at that point. You don't even have to hit it well - you can even get a broken bat swing at it. Anything to the left of the mound is a hit. Hitter, his batting coach, and manager should all be embarrassed by this. It's pathetic.

I just took another look - the LF is so far to the right, even a ground ball to what would be the 3B would probably be a double.

Absurd. MLB should be ashamed that their players lack such skill.

Half the field is off limits and you're in MLB - that's retarded.

This is my personal favorite beating of a shift

This and the free throw shite in the NBA with guys like Roberson and Drummond are basically the same thing IMO

Joey Gallo has probably never bunted.

Hitting it the other way isn’t as easy as you’d think. Pitchers are often going to pitch to the shift.

This is true, however, I'm sure he's done drills for hit & run. Lot of hitters have made a living with inside-out swings. For someone at the MLB level to not be able to simply get it to one half of the field is beyond embarrassing.

Les Miles is sitting on a couch somewhere screaming “Hit it hard and through them Joey!”

When this happens for a weekend, yes.
When it happens every weekend, no. You’re an mlb talent, work on your game.
But Gallo seems content in being the mlb all-time leader in “1-4, HR, 3K” stat lines

His speciality is pulling the ball with power. So the pitcher baits him with pitches inside. A 95 mph fastball inside is hard to hit the other way.
