this trade does not help us if we are going to continue to sign people to shite contracts and be tight with our cash

jew? the reason everyone was up in arms a few weeks ago was because they were to generous with their money. Not Jewish

again, see my post above

shitty contracts= too much money

how exactly is that being tight?

with a salary cap, there is only so much wiggle room. I dont understand. People say the same shite about the Saints, then bitch about all the money we paid guys like Charles Grant, Reggie Bush, and Will Smith.

It cant be both

Do you think they'll buy him out, or let him play it out?

I'm still worried that he fails the physical though.

Anyone who is bitching about this move is just trying too hard to find something to be unhappy about. It's a slamdunk.

its because of shitty contracts like tyson and peja

they in no way shape or form deserved that much money

by being tight i meant cutting costs, and that was in response to the terrible contracts

if we are just not gonna care about the lux tax next year, then thats fine. but i was always under the impression that we would be lowering salary over time, not adding huge contracts

as long as we move peja by deadline of 10-11, it will work out. bower just has to make a good trade

Yeah I really think this is a business move on the Bobcats part, and the Hornets happened to be in the position to benefit from it (regardless of what people think about the last few years of Okafor's deal).

how is that being Jewish?

And Chandler signed his contract with the Bulls, and gave us some decent time, but it was time to move on.

and i dont know what cost cutting you are talkign about?

adding a huge contract is not a big deal in this instance, if its a player that they think can be helpful to the team. Like 10 people have said already, we'd have to find someone to replace him anyway once Chandlers contract was up. We got a guy who plays the same position, and is more productive and not a whinny pussy.

dude, im not disagreeing with you

all im saying is they have to stay active

all along the shite coming from the front office was cost cutting and getting under the lux line

i like the trade from a player for player deal

but we just cant sit around with the 11.5 million in expirings and let them sit there. need to make another move

come on, just from selling the draft picks for instance. we are so far over the cap, in a small market, and not able to take the hits

i just dont see how we can afford to take the lux hits, and they know it too

its not a matter of what anyone has said, its a matter of simple accounting and finances

ESPNs reporting it now also:
quote:

The New Orleans Hornets have agreed in principle to a trade that will send center Tyson Chandler to the Charlotte Bobcats for Emeka Okafor, signaling the Hornets' unexpected intent to try to keep up with the contenders and spenders in the Western Conference.

It depends on your (ETA: of Shinn's definition) definition of "afford," in that case. If the luxury tax is completely wiping out Shinn's profit, or otherwise putting him deep in the red, I really doubt he would let it ride. I don't think it is, though. There is a big difference between basketball financial hell and business financial hell.

Then I would love for the Hornets should go after Wallace hard as frick. Sual + Daniels + a first for Wallace:

Paul
Wallace
Peja
West
Okafor

if not a legit contender would be fun to watch, especially if Juju or Thornton turned out.

Don't they have trade rules against completely gutting your team?
