13 games > 12 games.

12-1 > 11-1

UF goes to MNC.

Also, Coaches and Harris MIGHT do this:

1 UF
2 OU
3 Bama
4 UT

That takes out UT easily.

You said conference champs shoudl always be favored to go over non-conference champions.

When it comes to computers (I know I hate the BCS too) - what will be added into the equation this weekend for Florida is a quality win over #1. What will be added to the equation this weekend for Texas is -0-. That is what matters.

That is the problem. The bama win is not giving the "bump" in the computers that many expected. UF's schedule is hurting them. UF is 4 in sagarin and will be 3 in Colley for sure because you can add the games from yesterday.

Uf will probably be 4 in AH (but could be higher), 1 in Billingsly, 4 or 5 in Massey, 4 in wolfe. Texas will be 2 or 3 in all the computers.

I base this on looking at historical results of these polls.

When are these official results (computer polls) publicly released today? Prior to the BCS Selection Show tonight?

Not really. I was discussing whether a non conference champion (like TX this year, or GA last year) should be picked to go to the championship game over their conference champion. I said I had no problem with TX going because they weren't being picked over their conference champion. But for an example, if OK had lost last night I don't think TX should go because MO would not have gone.

If a team lost round 1 of a single elimination playoff to a team with more losses, you wouldn't expect the losing team to advance. In a BCS context, I view winning the conference championship as round one of a playoff, so I don't think a non-conference winner should advance. The only exception I would make is a sort of wild-card scenario, where a nonconference winner would get in only if their conference champion got in.

some computer polls come out before bcs, some after.

The human polls will determine the game. UF will need a .15 to .20 margin over UTx.

If margin is less than .15, problem for UF.

If margin is more than .20, UF in.

If margin is .15 to .20, we will have to wait for computers.

The Coaches poll will be out around noon.

The Horns didn't win their conference so they don't deserve to play in the championship game

Just curious why you believe this should matter? It does not matter in any other sport. Why College Football?

A team that does not win its conference should not go. Because there is no playoff with a qualifying process (ex. div champ and wildcard), you have to treat each conference title as a mini playoff.

If, by chance the two strongest teams reside in one conference, it's too bad. If the Cowboys and the Giants are the two best NFL teams, they don't get to play in the Super Bowl. They make the playoffs, but College Football does not have that option.

Its screwed up, but that's what they work with.

Then everyone is bitching because some team from a weak conference is playing for a national championship while the team from the tough conference is getting left out. That's not an issue this year but in many seasons in the past that's been people's beef with BCS.

Your premise was 'look at who Florida has beaten'. In all honesty (and I am a SEC homer) they really haven't beaten too many quality teams this year. Bama and UGA (which is a stretch) are about it. So it isn't about who Florida has beaten but instead about what the reputation of the SEC as a whole. This year's SEC is way down. That doesn't mean UF won't beat OU. But Texas does have a case over UF. That's for certain.
Damn, that was a good post. Nice one, beardedzeus.

but something like

1 OU
2 UF
3 UT
4 Bama

might cause a problem... and it's just as possible

UF's in, i wish they weren't though. if we're going by best resumes, which is the current system in place until the voters get a whim and decide that they don't like it, UF isn't one of the top 2 teams

Care to explain why?

Florida has the 3rd best scoring offense and the 5th best scoring defense in the NCAA.

Oklahoma is 1st in scoring offense and 57th in scoring defense.
Texas is 9th in scoring offense and 68th in scoring defense.
Texas Tech is 4th in scoring offense and 68th in scoring defense.
Alabama is 30th in scoring offense and 6th in scoring defense.

No doubt voter manipulation will make this happen.

Texas has nothing to be ashamed of this year. Great rebuilding year for the horns. watch out in 09. There will be no question who's gonna win all next year after we stone-cold OU again.
