ATLien, who is your team?

Sadly it's Arsenal, followed by a close second Barca. As it has been for nearly a decade.

I guess you could say I have no complaints, so long as both legs are as exciting as this. I would love for Arsenal to win, but if they don't the next best thing is Barca going for the repeat.

I had to leave to go take a test right after Ibra scored the second. Guess I have to watch the replay tonight.

I can see how he(bussacca) could have called it a PK but upon the replay it really looked to be more of a case of cesc kicking puyol than puyol pushing/fouling cesc. Buuuut I'm not gonna complain bc there is so
much to play for the next match. DEFINITELY not a red card though

That was a definite PK, from a neutral observer.

If you go to Fado for a CL match let me know how it is. They always have huge crowds for United and/or Liverpool matches with a good number of Chelsea and Arsenal fans too.

Inter picked up the win! 1-0 tho, was hoping for at least a 2 point edge going away. Did prevent conceding an away goal tho

That's the thing though, if it's a PK, it has to be a red card. It's a denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. And is was a PK. Puyol moving into the path of Cesc's leg as he was trying to shoot. That said, I thought Clichy was extremely lucky not to give Barca a PK on what looked to be a pretty clear foul on Messi in the 1st half.

not necessarily bc Xabi Alonso handballed in the box over the weekend and didn't get sent off even though atletic was awarded a PK. Of course even if puyol got a yellow he'd still miss the next match so I guess the point is moot

I am also a neutral observer...still don't think that was a pk. Cf basically kicks him in the back of the legs, falls down, and gets the home call

Haha ok. Whatever you say man.

Anyways, Wenger says Gallas is out for the year. Arshavin and Fabregas's chances don't look great either. Fab having an x-ray tomorrow.

The one in Atlanta is far and away the best place to watch soccer around here. I'm sure the others are great as well. I don't know how old you guys are but it's also a pretty good night time bar too. More of a mid/late 20 crowd rather than all the college kids.

it's a red cus he was calling a penalty that looked like it was from behind while cesc was in scoring position. you give the pk you got to give the red card. Basically he was following the rules. If anything he shouldnt have called it.

Pique and Puyols are out at Barcelona. Any Barca fan who bitches about the ref is completeley blind. Arsenal was very lucky to get the result. Guardiola was the complete chump. Subbing his two best players up 2-0 is unforgivable IMO.

just finished watching the game. Wow, great game, but that red card at the end tarnished it a bit.

It was probably an alright call to give the PK since the contact obviously prevented the shot, but no way in hell should that have been a red card. Cesc got his leg in between Puyol's legs due to his own backswing falling in between Puyol's natural running motion. I know, I know, if you give the foul, you allegedly have to give the red these days...but this is a prime example of where that well-intentioned concept fricking sucks. No way a ref can be expected to tell the difference in real time

Overall, this was a GREAT result for Arsenal, considering how easily this could have been a 5-1 game the other way. Impressive play from Barca

Yeah can't complain about Pique and as a Barca fan it hurts abou puyol but I can see how it'd be called a PK. I'm concerned now about leg two because like ATL said, we are without our two starting CB's.

I hope iniesta will be fit and maybe we can do like we did against Chelsea last year and put toure in CB. Great game nonetheless.

I completely agree. Barca should have had this closed out in the first half. Almunia was lights out in the first half. He reverted back to typical Almunia play on the first goal. So far of the line and no hope of getting to the ball. As a Gunner fan I love the result. It is why they play the game. Next week will be intriguing to say the least. No Puyols and Pique will be very interesting.
