Now way the Cavs pass on Perry Jones...Cavs need a SF desperately and a 2nd scorer to pair with Kyrie. They have an emerging PF in Thompson and Im fine with Varejao playing center again next year. Look for them to take a look at Lamb also in the lottery.

Zeller is a talent, but the need is greater for a SG or SF for the Cavs

Austin Rivers reminds me of OJ Mayo. Good scorer but needs to dominate the ball to be effective.

I see a whole lot of guys in this draft with "potential" but there are a lot of guys with high reward, high bust potential like:

Perry Jones III
Jeremy Lamb
Andre Drummond
Terrance Jones

I don't think Brad Beal has quite the upside as some of the other guys in this draft but he's probably one of the safer picks. He might not be a superstar but he'll be a quality starter for many years.

Very questionable whether Perry Jones can
play the 3 in the NBA. He's quick for his size, but is he quick enough? Seems like a definite 4.

Is he tough enough to play the 4?

He's gonna have to be if he wants to make it in the league. As timid as Jones appears to be around the rim for someone his size, at the very least, he can develop into a good pick and pop type 4. I don't know his shooting numbers, but he's got a very good form on his shot and makes them from the college perimeter, though he's struggled at the FT line.

OJ Mayo was a much better scorer in college IMO. He averaged MUCH better numbers too in college. 20.7 ppg, about the same exact shooting percentage, 41% from 3 point compared to 36% for Rivers. Just better in every category period. Rivers has a ways to go to get to Mayo's level.

He doesnt have a big mans game in my book. I see him as a SF all the way. Havent seen to much back to the basket play from him. He cant bang with the PF's in the NBA....to frail and thin. I see him as a poor mans Kevin Durant.

Yeah...when taking a closer loom I can see that. Rivers seems top be a better athlete and he gets to the rim alot more than Mayo. Rivers stays in school I think, but as the article pointed out, the kid has moxie and a killer instinct that can go a long way on the court. Hopefully he can turn into Dwayne Wade for whoever drafts him since he will be a SG in the league. They are about the same height

Beal at 4 and McAdoo at 7? GMs are really saying this?

I can see GMs liking Barnes as a top 5 guy although I disagree. As if I've said for almost year now, I actually dislike just about everyone in this class outside of Davis and Robinson. I think this class is massively overrated.

If by "young," you mean reaaaaaaaaally young, then OK. But Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum are still young.

this class has a lot of potential, esp with the big men. that's the main thing bringing the hype

the closest thing to a complete player is trob, but as of now he has height/athleticism issues (and i don't mean in terms of being a player, i mean in terms of being a "omg look at him play" player)

unibrow has advanced his game a lot in a single year, and he's got super duper potential

then you got guys with question marks (for total games) like jones, drummond, barnes, rivers, MKG, etc. lots of potential there, but i'd bet most end up good on one side of the ball or in situational roles only (by pure odds)

Rivers isnt hurting for dough and losing in 1st round of tourney might provide some motivation to come back. Outside if Kyrie and Maggette I cant think of another Duke player leaving after their Freshman yr

Lotta people thought Sullinger would bounce last yr too

William Avery I think.

Rivers does need more seasoning in college. He's an isolation player and needs to polish his game. Potential is the name of the game though... and he has loads of it.
