Posted this in the offseason thread but I thought the topic deserved it's own. I can see why SA turned it down but a really interesting move by Boston if it was accepted. Maybe some of our Boston posters can tell us how legit this guy is

The Spurs rejected an official offer from the Celtics, including a pick and Kyrie Irving for Kawhi Leonard

All has been quiet on the Spurs front since. No major suitors have emerged

Will Kyrie cry again and demand a trade?

Kyrie doesn't really fit the Boston team culture. I like that offer from Boston. Not to mention that Kyrie supposedly wanted to go to San Antonio when he was traded. Really sounds like a good deal for both sides, and I think if anyone could beat these Warriors it would be the Boston team we saw in the playoffs with Hayward and Kawhi added to the mix.

I'd pay good money to watch Popovich try to convince Kyrie that the Earth is round.

I mean...if the Spurs have some assurances that Kyrie will resign it's not a bad trade. You almost never get a star in return for a star.

I wonder why they said no. They must have reached out to kyries camp when negotiating this and they must have heard he wasnt interested in an extension with them

That would turn out to be only a draft pick.

If Tatum or Brown is not on the table then the Celtics are out of the bidding.

In the end I think it will be Ingram, Hart and Rondo for Leonard or Ball, Deng, and Kuzma for Leonard. Plus a draft pick or two

I don't blame them for declining. It's a terrible offer.

Kyrie is hurt 75% of the time and the Boston draft pick will be the 2nd to last pick now that James is out of the east.

not really important. Have until trade deadline next year. Kawhi will be traded before the trade deadline, even if as short term rental.

If the spurs enter the year with Kawhi, I really doubt they find a legitimate trade partner. They are going to trade him this summer, or bring him back and make him say no to the super max

If true, that has to be about Kyrie not being willing to commit long term. Other than that, that's as good as the Spurs will do.

Saying Kyrie has injury issues...Kawhi has barely played in the last year.

Currently a pretty damning thread about Kyrie on r/nba. If this stuff is true, the Spurs surely know about it, and I can't see them wanting him in the organization.
