What are your thoughts? For me, I know the App State game is one of the greatest upsets ever but LSU-UF in 2007 is one of the best football games I've ever seen. I also think there were a few games in 2023 that might have been better than the Iron Bowl.

Without looking, you can probably get a damn good list with ESPN.
But yeah the SEC affiliation in CBS's case definitely helps.

The week before this game happened, Alabama played LSU in Death Valley in what is still the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever been a part of. This is the first LSU game that SVP ever attended and waxed so poetically about.

LSU lost the game in Death Valley but then had another tough home game against a top 25 MS State and came out victorious. I remember listening to the LSU post game interview with Jarvis Landry after the State game and they asked him what he thought about Alabama aTm, and he went on some canned speech about how good Alabama was and how much he respected them etc….

The interviewer interrupted him and said “You didn’t hear? aTm upset Alabama”

There was a long pause, a deep exhale, and all Landry said was “Really? Are you serious?” You could tell he was absolutely pissed off that aTm got the glory despite LSU beating down Alabama to the point that aTm even had a chance.

Call me a homer, but the LSU-Alabama game in 2022 was much better than Tennessee-Alabama. Sorry, I like watching teams play defense too.

2007 was one of the craziest football seasons ever & this is the best they could come up with? I call BS

Great finish but not a great game. LSU is in easy control for 80% of it, lays down the last 10 minutes, then UK monumentally blows it.

The UF vs. South Carolina game that year was also on CBS and an instant classic. The Cock Block game.

That game was insane. Not sure what you're talking about about.

Everyone was just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it just never did.

2005 USC-Notre Dame was great but I like the win against Fresno State that year better.

Agreed, and the poor officiating holds that game back as a great game for me. But non-LSU fans don't care, they just remember then 7 OTs.

There's no way this was the best game of the year. Maybe a memorable ending, but not the complete game. Michigan vs Ohio State from that year immediately comes to mind as being a better game

In the moment? It was 13 years ago and I still am not over it. I’ve never been gutted like that ever before in my entire life.
